What are the possibilities of adding AWE to the Cassino server for awhile to see how it goes? The mod offers so many options which can be turned on or off. The newest release is for CoD and UO, they also have a new CoD2 AWE mod which is sweet. Anyway, guess there needs to be some feedback. Here's some of the features in AWE. I will bold the ones that I'm interested in.
Again, nothing wrong with the stock settings that are in Cassino now... just trying to shake things up a little bit, possibly get more people on the server as well. Features -------- - Effects from Ravir's Demolition (Mortars and hitblip) - C47 planes flying by on all stock maps and should work on most custom maps too. - Teamkill and/or teamdamage detection with different punishments. - Camping detection and marking of campers. In teamplay the camper will be marked with a headicon that flashes between team headicon and a star, and marked on the compass with an objective icon that flashes between a team radio icon and the default objective icon. In deathmatch the camper will be marked with the default objective icon on the compass and the headicon will flash been a star and a crosshair. - Override grenade count - Search & destroy bomb timer - Grenade warnings ("Grenade!") - Random maprotation - Force/disable weapons (for example: disable grenades, assign fg42 as secondary weapon etc.) - Parachuting - Spawn protection - Tracers - Skyflashes - Mobile MG42s - Helmet popping - Painscreen - Weapon drop on hand/arm hit - Blood splatter on screen - Change allies team, or make it random - Swap teams for each round in round based gametypes - Server messages - Crosshair disabling - Trip on foot and/or leg hit - Stukas - Laserdot - Warmup round in roundbased gametypes - Head popping - Parts of Ravirs admin tools available for all gametypes (everything but kicktospec should work) - Bleeding - Taunts - Tripwire - Rain/Snow - Disable minefields - Conquest TDM gametype - Server/Clan logo under compass - AWE Capture the Flag gametype - Last Team Standing gametype - Searchable bodies - Burning bodies after flamethrower death - Remote detonable satchels - Sticky grenades and satchels - Modify UO sprinting - Sprinting for Call of Duty (non-UO) - First aid kits - HQ works on any map (AWE spawns radios using random TDM spawn points) -------------------- ![]() |

That look pretty good!!
What about putting smoke nades??? Would be helpfull against sniper ripping a spawn point and mg42!! -------------------- I have to make a correction ...not only i own Pancakes with one bullet, i own him by shooting from the hip with one hand in my back while singing the star spangled banner!!! |

I'd like the sticky nades and satchels and it'd be cool if the flame thrower was in Cassino. I love da flame!

I think the issue with smoke nades was the lag, could be wrong though. There is a spawn protection cvar that can be enabled, but I'm sure majority of the players would be against that since they rack up points on the spawn kills.

I like Cassino the way it is too.. but I think something like a mod might spice it up. I played for a bit today as US... has anyone ever realized why Axis tend to win every time? The Allies weapons aren't too great compared to Axis. I emptied a clip into Harry Carry's back a few times and he probably only needed a band-aid to fix it up.

Basically you can make it so both teams can have flamethrower as a second weapon... well, or anything. Cool feature cause you can make both sides only use a KAR, very fun. - Tracers = ??? Adds tracer rounds from machine guns... good if you want to know where they're coming from sometimes. Looks sweet too. - Change allies team, or make it random = Let people join whatever team they want This is so you can change the representing team in the game... so Cassino could be Russian vs US or German vs German, etc. - Stukas = sticky nades? Just German planes that fly over... no big deal, bells and whistles. - Disable minefields = no mine field Great for maps like Brecourt. - AWE Capture the Flag gametype = no, ctf is kinda lame imo but they have Capture the Beer! - Burning bodies after flamethrower death = will we get flamethrowers? The mod adds them as an optional weapon or the admin can make it a secondary weapon... per admin disgretion. - First aid kits = nobody heals their allies, its annoying This is a great feature if the bleeding is turned on... you basically hide and hold down a hot key and start healing yourself. - Remote detonable satchels = they never work They work... you just press a hotkey after you've wired it in it's location. - Sticky grenades and satchels = thats cool Again... like the above. - Modify UO sprinting = more energy?!?! Sprinting can be modified by the server admin... slower, faster, more stamina, less, etc. - Rain/Snow = i like this It can get annoying, especially rain... like it isn't hard enough to see the Axis team grey on grey... then add some grey rain which also adds more sound to the game. -------------------- ![]() |

Another problem with smoke is that after 30 seconds the entire map is filled with smoke.
The problem with AWE on Cassino is that 75% of the fighting takes place in buildings shooting at openings in other buildings. If you add trip wires nobody is going to be able to move anywhere and it will create a whole new game that goes against what cassino is best at providing. I don't play there really, anymore, but all the changes we made to it were made to make it as fun as possible. That is why all the Cassino regs play there, right? If you start screwing with it you risk losing the players that keep it going. I'd rather see other maps brought into the rotation before making it AWE. Or, if it does go AWE, I prefer to see a map rotation. I'd probably play there if we started putting in other maps. But most likely not, since if I want to play TDM I'll play COD2. Speaking of which, all you Cassino guys should get COD2 and get that server rocking. If you can play UO you can play COD2, despite what the PC requirements are. I don't come anywhere near meeting the requirements for COD2, yet I play it just fine. Could be a lot better, but I think it runs smoother than UO to be honest. Download the demo and see if it plays for you. If it works for me it should work for you. BTW my graphics card is a geforce2gts. -------------------- |

i could go either way. i'd rather have it stay the way it is just because i'm fearful of change. but i'd like to at least see what's it like, maybe insert it on the prac server like we did AX mod and test it out if we wanted to?

Bargod - I have CoD2, just haven't been too impressed w/the stock settings. I was spoiled w/the sprint option. I also can't get used to hitting G to throw a nade.... but I guess I'm lazy and could change that to my mouse.
Also, we don't have to use tripwires. That option can be turned off. I think the huge push for AWE from me is the weapons and small bells and whistles. I would love to flush out a room with the flame thrower. -------------------- ![]() |
