Those that don't remember the past are doomed to repeat it. Personally, I think our country got a bit laid back and forgot about Pearl Harbor. We have a problem where we live by the motto, "my enemy's enemy is my ally" and it keeps looping around and kicking us in the ass down the road. Watching all the footage again over the weekend and today, remembering friends and family that were lost in DC and NY... it makes me sick. My throat is lumping up as I write this.
It upsets me that 5 years ago, the US was steeped in anger, pride, and patriotism. Now... where are we? You have a lot of people in this country that are too afraid too offend people that aren't even citizens of this country. We can't profile people to make this country safer and terrorists are planning to attack again exploiting our democracy, freedoms, and trusts. Personally, I think our government (HLS) has done a great job in the past 5 years with protecting our shores. Just hope it keeps up. Forgive me for focusing on the US here, I know all countries were effected by these events and I hope the US, our brothers and sisters up north and over the pond can all live peacefully for the years to come. Never forget -------------------- ![]() |

I'll have to set one tv to Tivo it while I'm watching the Skins game. We were watching the documentary last night, mostly because our Fox broadcast was all messed up and couldn't enjoy Family Guy. Anyway, it was hard to watch 30 mins straight at a time.... we had to keep pausing and taking breaks. I was getting all lump throated and my chest felt like it was constricting. Still pisses me off watching all that... but that's ofcourse a good thing. In someway, I wish they broadcast images of 9/11 more often so the public wouldn't become so numb to it... but maybe the constant showing of the images would produce the same result. Who knows.
Just wish the majority of the people in this country would stand up for themselves and say "we've had enough" and stop thinking that it's the government's sole job to protect them. I'm not saying that people should go crazy and start killing anyone that looks like a terrorist... but seriously... that Jody Foster movie a few years back where she loses her daughter. She points out an arab group and starts accussing them... and it backlashes on her. That's what people are afraid of. There is so much recourse in the media of this country now if you do anything wrong, nobody wants to screw up and make a mistake. I'd rather make the mistake and live to regret it. -------------------- ![]() |
