Just desserts....although I think his death should be long and painful. For all the torture he has done to the human kind, a death by hanging just does not seem suitable.

well both his son's were killed and their dead bodies were posted all over the local news networks in Iraq. . . . . . When he was captured they stuffed a stool softner in his ass and made he walk around naked while they switched him and spit on him. I assure you he recieved some decent torture. No need to stoop to his level of pathetic exsitence, although death by firing squad would be a little more fitting considering when he took power he had all his opposition lined up and shot by their own collegues. . .

I'm a bit curious why they didn't just plop a nade in the hole they found snively Sadamn in. Granted there likely won't be a delay of execution like 10 years in the U.S but all the whack-job Sadamned loyalists are very likely going to stir up some horrors on innocents and Iraqi/US troops once their anti-hero/martyr does take the drop.

I'm torn on this decision. Yes, there will always be the part of me that wants this guy dead and I'm jumping around inside screaming "yeah, you're going to hang mothaf***er!" There's also another part of me thinking that all the Iraqis and Islamic extremists will use this sentence and death as a way to martyrise him. Creating a martyr can work two sides, could be a good thing ie: Martin Luther King or it could be a bad thing ie: Che. Well, Che isn't that bad... mainly cause all the kids wearing the revolution shirt with his image don't know who the hell he really is or what he stood for. I love asking people that wear Che shirts how they feel about Castro... usually have hilarious responses. Anyway, back to the subject. I think I'd rather see Saddam rot in prison like Charles Manson to the point that he's an emaciated little guy that will speak out against terrorism, etc than see him become a martyr. Plus, we have to make sure that this is all done by Iraqi people... no Allied forces involved or we get blamed for it. There is still a lot of anti-US sentiment over Che's death even though we weren't involved in that at all.

Hanging or sitting in prison the rest of his life, either way he dies... so I guess it's win-win.

Hard to say what punishment is appropriate for crimes against humanity. Certainly, a quick relatively painless death doesn't seem to do justice. Whatever happened to old fashioned blood vengence? Maybe time and place for such a thing?

I'm kinda partial to the pig idea, but the Iraqis will never do that. How 'bout a good old west idea. Naked being dragged behind a camel across the entire country of Iraq? If the sand don't get him, the sun and dehydration will. Not a good way to go.
