Just curious on what you guys do for a living, im kind of writing this in a shitty ass mode cause i think the place that just laid me off stuck it up my ass and the new place that took over hired some of the other drivers back and im still unemployed. ha, blah blah blah, you don't want to hear about my life story but i am maybe thinking of changing careers and wonder what you people do. I know nobody likes there job, but i think im looking for a change. so, what do you do, i used to be a truck driver and i know i can get another one delivering junk but i think i want different.

My company builds residential homes. Primarily light guage steel studs for walls and trusses. The factory panelizes and delivers the completed panels and trusses to the job site to be installed. I'm the Operations Manager for the factory and field. I get to set up the processes and maintain procedures for assembly and quality. I do NOT hate my job. I did however hate all the previous jobs from time to time. I have the privilege of streamlining the flow process and eliminating waste in the organization. And I get paid to do what comes naturally to me. Had to wait 53 years for this to fall in my lap though, just so ya know.

I work at AOL. I manage a group that mediates with other teams as a liasion. We basically run meetings and document the process of code installation so if we get audited by SOX, we're in the clear. Just in case you guys have been living in caves, AOL is free now... so no knocks. It's free and AOL radio is great, free XM radio! AOL is also a great place to work, so if any of you live in VA... well, Northern VA, let me know.
I spend a lot of my free time working at the company my girlfriend started (perpetualkid.com), so basically I do warehouse work. Pack orders, do web graphics, newsletters, take pics, ride the adult bigwheel around the complex. -------------------- ![]() |

Hey Cero,
Its funny how close our industries are. I own a freight forwarding company. I ship freight to and from all over the world. My main flow of freight is from China to USA. I hire truckers all over the US to deliver my freight to my customers. What city do you live in? What do you drive? Do you haul ltl or pull containers? I actually love my job. There are my moments, but for the most part, I enjoy what I do. I would hate to have to do one thing all day long. Every day is different for me. There is always new sorts of problems for me to deal with on a daily basis. It keeps it interesting. -------------------- ![]() |

nothing, one option i am looking into is getting my A license, right now, im living with a B and i know i can get another job. But what i was carrying, im lucky i didn't get shot for it. I delivered about 200-300 thousands dollars worth of cigarette's to Philly, Jersey and New York, and a lot of other shops in Pennsylvania.
Undead, i like how you think, No, i am not looking to get rich, just pay my bills and put food in my wife and kids mouths. As for the working hard part, im with that too. i just hate when i bust my ass without getting noticed and underpaid. Worked for a company that delivered building material to all different job sites. Yea, you see the trucks with forklifts or cranes on them but i just had a flat bed. Dropping off 45 square of shingles to a house by hand sucks, it when they call back saying they don't like the color and want a different one. I get sent out to pick it up and drop off the new color. If you wondering what a square of shingle is, it depends on the shingle. Either 3-4 bundles make 1 square. And 1 bundle weighs about 80 pounds, it just purely sucked. -------------------- ![]() We're on double secret probation. |

I am basically an accountant that focuses on auditing Governmental entities.
Obviously this time of year they have me doing Corporate and individual tax. Which is getting to be a pain in the ass about now. Yeah, when you talk to me at 3:00 a.m. EST, its likely that I will get about 4 hours sleep and work a 12 hour day. Haaaaa. But I love it. It will be over in a few days, and I will be a lot more fun. |

Since I'm only a silly 15 year old, one could say my job is school. However, i do work to get cash. I work at an aftercare program at the elementary school I went to. I enjoy it quite a bit, since one could say I get payed to play soccer. There are of course downsides, I help kids with homework. Although the majority don't need my help, there are a handful that need my help...everytime I'm there. Worst part is, when i help them, they don't listen! So oh well, my job has upsides and downsides. It's nice to learn more about the life of my fellow clanmates.
