custom maps Options

just thought id start a new thread on the custom maps. the reason i havent logged on the last few days is because i found it annoying to keep deleting files and re downloading them , if im playing a 4 hour stretch i could goto 5 different maps which involve alot of game types. today i fixed my problem somehow ,this is what i did. first off i ran steels muti fix she posted which cleaned evrything up .

barb-
stocks - all servers -britts and german i like alot

the problem of course was that all these were conflicting with each other but today i fooled around a bit to get them all to work.i moved the (red skies) 1st div pk3 from my uo folder to the aweuo folder(duh) but when i was trying still couldnt log on to royal battalion this a.m. so then i went uder mods and clicked on the mob mod ?????? and walaa everything works,dont have to re dl anything or delete anything. maybe everyone has already figured this out ,just thought id post it in case. i really want the custom map server to work because its something new and some really cool maps , hopefully we can see some people there soon?

I guess no ones having problems or is it no one wants to play it ?? someone put alot of time into making this server.

I got some maps in my UO folder that I have to take out to play on the custom server, but I dont delete the files I take out of my UO folder, that way I dont have to re-download all the time.





And everytime I look on xfire to see if someone is in the custom server no one is in it. Which sucks cause I like alot of those maps.

It would seem to me if the server has any chance at working, we need to make the fixes on OUR end, not expect people to figure out what needs to be deleted, what doesn't, etc. For example, when I start surfing other servers, if I start something and get an error when I go into the map, I usually just go to the next server on the list. Id some download becomes an issue where I can't download my favorite maps, that is when I poke around in my folders and change stuff, but if I'm surfing and going to a server for the first time, well, they have one chance to grab me. If it fails to load, there's probably 20 other games on my list that look as interesting.


Anyway, I have no idea how this stuff works, but couldn't we just change the names of our mods/maps to some custom name so that when they download into our folders there's no chance of names conflicting?

Anyway, my two cents. Take them for what they are worth (which is, btw, 2 cents).
