A lot of people complaning lately about long range bunker hitting. How do You determine anyway what's long range, what's not. I shell from different places without actually seeing them. Nice to hit g2 from g3 for example. Is that long range? I could be just standing behind a green wall South of g2 and hitting it again.
It's finally hard to explain to everyone freshcoming not to do so. Many moments are not perfect. It's the map. But both sides are even from the start. Everione uses his abilities. I only learned how to hit g3 from afar a week ago. Its fun staying in defence and attaking at the same time. And most fight comes after the bases are breached anyway! I say both sides use it. All depends on a team work. We didnt hit LR couple last rounds last night. Still germans got they butts kicked in most cases. Other night I was shoked how many times in the row russians have lost, completely smashed! It's all fun if You putting a good fight. Or what's next? "Dont shoot me from the tank - I'm in the jeep"? The only way to stop long range shelling is to redo the Map and surround bunkers by impregnable wall of trees. I dont think it's gonna add to the game. I love this Map better than any other. I would like to keep the things the way they are. (No offence to AWOL players. You, leaving the map, would only make me searching and killing You on other maps. LOL kidding of course) LOVE YOU ALL GUYS! -------------------- Leonsio

pay no attention to anyone saying to "stop long ranging in TF", i certainly haven't, don't, and never intend to.
question: in a real battle does anyone really think that i am going to drive my tank 3 miles till i can see my target before i begin to shell it? or am i gonna hit it from the safest place for me and my army? of course i am going to hit it from as far away as possible. i put many hours into finding the firing solutions and will continue to use them until scrapyardbob tells me in a PM to stop. i say pay no attention to anyone telling you to stop, don't be rude, don't get out of line with them, just tell them that the shot is make able therefore i am taking it, it's part of the map. i have gone so far as to know where certain individuals tend to shot from when long ranging and hit those spots from the other side. anyone who cares to stop you might think to do the same as opposed to saying "stop it" "boohoo". Lenosio, you are playing the forest very well now-a-days. keep it up. it's a thrill to have skilled and knowledgeable players in that map. -Overheated This post has been edited by Overheated: 05/17/07 1:06am -------------------- ![]() |

Yaknow how the console banner states that spawn killing is allowed? And that racist comments and the like will result in a ban? Maybe it's time we put yet another in there with something along the lines of:
"Long range shots are allowed here". That way we won't have to explain anything? -Pain |

you are correct Pain.... you may not be aware but the console states that "pak shots are allowed". that is fine that it says that but scrapyard has stated, and everyone who plays there knows that no paks can hit any bases. i do feel that a console message stating that "long shots with tanks are allowed" would be a good idea. it may eliminate some of the complaining.
my gut feeling is that the guys who complain are the ones who play for points but won't take the time to learn the shots. i no longer even reply, typing or vent, to anyone commenting on it and i know there are many others who have adopted the same policy towards the comments. still, a console message might be a good idea. -Overheated -------------------- ![]() |

I will guess that the complaints happen when there are no clan members on there from us. Point mongers usually have the biggest issue. The only issue I see is when someone knows the shots, and refuses to help plant the bases when they have a gizzillion points. Many guys like to stay on defense, rack up points and then stand in a mirror and look how cool they are. Sadly, this does not help us on offense. Tuchola has become a strong server for proper tactics, and the team that seems to communicate the best wins. It is not to big, and not to small. BUT the real fun starts when the bases are gone. Sneaky guys (like me) can get to them unmolested (fun word) sometimes, as opposed to sitting in a tank, shelling it from 11 feet (I dont know the long range shots) and getting tagged my someone who lies in the bushes for half the round. I am sure that most agree with you Leo, but dealing with complainers is not easy to do. Take the high road, and ignore the negativity. |

this is topic 4 on this matter and on tuchola there is a banner that says "long range shots with pak are allowed" this should be chnged to long range shots allowed. its very hard to do the shots and the tanks have to sit in exposed areas which i love coming upon in my travels. like ive said in the previous 4 posts -the fun begins when the bases are down.

Thanks for the reply!
And most times complaints came from people who actually were first to show me that LR. They are often the players who comforts me in the ars with they bazooka while I'm shelling! LOL. They are some of the greatest players no doubt. And I was surprised to hear it from them. May be it just wasn't they best days in the game... Anyway! The map ROCKS! Thank You Scrapyard Bob! I already bruoght two of my buddies here. We all think this is the best map in CoD! Best regards! -------------------- Leonsio

Yes, for Long range shots in TF, I have found possibly all the spots on TF to hit bases from both sides of the map. As Russian hitting G2 from R1 tanktrap near border and hitting G1, G2, G3 from hill at R1 next to morter,
hitting G3 from 2 spots in the farm, hitting G1 from 3 spots near the South Bridge and 1 spot near the North Bridge, hitting G2 from G3 Base and passage between G1 and G2 and over the trench at R2 base....etc. etc. I can go on and on telling you where to go to get good hits on the bases, but I will refrain from doing so. TF is by far my favaroute map out there. It takes many hours to find the positions to hit the bases from and Overheated is right in the approach that has to be taken when looking at this as real war time simulation(hitting targets from safe locations). What it comes down to is: you can go ahead and hit the opposing bases all you want but all it takes is infantry to get behind your position with a satch and zooka and you're toast. Thanks ScrapYardBob, TF is a job very well done and the few glitches that there are shows that the map was made by a real PRO. If it was me you would get in a tank and it would blow up -------------------- ![]() |

i was there when it went down was playin under EXAM i never have used long range shots on that map and never really plan to. i can see why most people dont like them as to were they do take fun outa the game yes it takes skill to figer those shots out but in the end you just have to hang back kick out shells and stay in the spawn or close to it anyways i think most people dont like it cause maby they have to run all the way across the map to kill you and maby some think its a wuss tac and most people just take the game a little to much to the heart sometimes. i think they have a point and the banner sould be changed to long range shots are allowed. im sure no matter what the banner says people are still gona complain tho.

i personally do not know any long range shots for any map . when you spawn on barb everyone gets into postions in the spawn and lr all the bases ,so its really on how you repel all the offense running to your bases.
on tuchola its different- for russians it would take all day to get the kv into position and youll be lucky to get the base down. stocks t34 is the only worth while tank for lr and everyone runs for them. for germans the p3 and p4 take all day to get a base down. jag has no power either-stug is usless on tuchola. the only reason i like the jag is it has an acurate mg and turret and takes an extra shot. it is anoying to hear these arguements , 88 shelling and spawn raping is allowed in our stocks , lr and spawn killing in barb is allowed , lr and spawn killing should be allowed in tf ! its not as easy in tuchola. -------------------- ![]() |

People will complain about anything.
Long range shots are part of the game and are allowed on MOB servers. If you are playing against someone who is wreaking havoc with long range shots or in any other way for that matter, the answer is to come up with a response to thier technique. I am aware of several people who make a mad rush across the map in a jeep to zook the long range shellers when the round starts. It's very effective if you adjust you tactics in this way and much more likely to stop the sheller than complaining. That's the thing about war (and sports for that matter), if you are not able to defend against something, expect to see it often. One way to even it out is to make the shots yourself, and as Overheated mentioned, you can shell the sheller from the opposite side of the map as well. Don't lose any sleep over the crybabies. War is hell. If we weren't allowed to shoot anything from a distance we would all spawn with pistols only. Perhaps we should start a map where you only get smoke grenades so no one gets hurt... -------------------- ![]() War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.
