Just to update everyone since I live in Minny. Total injured about 80, confirmed dead 4, there are about 30 people listed as missing. There are still a number of cars 10-20 trapped underwater and underneath the bridge debris, it assumed most of the missing will be found in those cars. If you don't know the Miss, River can be extremely trecherous with undertows and crazy currents, this is the problem as having the bridge in the water has really messed up the currents and there is a down stream suction effect hindering the efforts of the divers. They are now trying to lower the river level to make things more manageable. My thoughts and prayers go out to all those effected by this tragedy. |

once again it seems the city knew the bridge was deficient since 1990 and only patched it rather than fix it correctly.this is pretty similiar to what happend with the boston tunnel,a real shame!

This will definitely be a problem recognizeed across the country, Minny just happened to be the first one. All the infrastructure built in the 50s and 60s is getting old and needs to be updated. That's gonna cost a lot on money, ~20 Bil. But alas, we we're spending all that money in Iraq instead. Such a shame. W This post has been edited by Wino Ph.D.: 08/03/07 3:13pm |
