ok i have read all the issues that people have been having with punkbuster. Mine were all worked out until i left for a few days and WHAM! they're back again. If anybody uses a MAC that can tell me the best way to get punkbuster to update itself i would be eternally grateful. I do try to do the save as b.s. in Explorer but i can never tell if it works. I run pbsetup.run and it tells me it's been updated but i still get the "cannot authenticate" error in game. Steel, OMM and one? Please help or other wise my machine may end up with my size 12 sticking out of it!
Thanks |

Thanks I've had no luck with updating PunkBuster manually on my Macintosh...when I'm having problems with being kicked for INIT stuff, I just use the workaround below: Open console Type in: pb_security 0 Hit return. Close the console. It will let you play, but make sure that you do it when you first get into the server... |

Thanks havoc. I tried that the last PB update but had no luck but i sure will give it a try again. The really lame thing is i get to do everything twice (comp at home and work). Both take different solutions to get passed the pb issues. Thanks again.

Hi Shazbot,
When you run PB setup are you updating your users folder in application support? In PB Setup under Game Path it should look like this: /Users/your home folder name/Library/Application Support/CoD United Offensive That usually works for me. |

I believe the extra confusion is because PB has released TWO upgrades in less than two weeks. If you own a Mac, do the following:
Go to www.evenbalance.com and click on your game. Click on the Software Updates: "Download" link. Now you'll need to manually download the "For Players" version of the pbsec.htm file and the two recent client files "v1.726" and "v1362". You can use Firefox or Safari for this, just right click on the link and chose "Save Link As..." The key is to get these files into the proper folder. If you are like me, you've ended up with a PB folder in both the Application/COD folder and in the User/Library/Application Support/COD UO folder. Make sure you've got both PB folders updated properly and you should be good to go. As of this evening you'll have to have v1.726 which superceded v1.720 which was posted on July 25. |
