Started in Goodfellas and was pinging around 50 but had to quit when it got over 130. Cable company says they are working on it.

hey to add to this i am looking to switch from cable to verison dsl. any thoughts. currently i use adelphia power link. its like 40 a month. dsl is like 30. save me ten a month

I guess there's nothing wrong in trying it. Make them give you a guarantee on the speed you will be receiving. Also, if you are currantly getting a discount from the one you are leaving, see if they will granfather the discount in case you want to come back. I got a deal where my provider discounted my bill for subscribing for the tv-internet combo. I moved and needed a new address account and I had to fight to get my discount back. They said they couldn't grandfather the deal after I moved.
