Just a thought guys but what about a WW! map? Each side has trenches, each side has fixed MG positions, both has bolt action rifles. In the middle is blown trees with stumps, logs, destroyed wagons, dead horses, trash from war, shell holes from the 405mm Big Berthas. Heck, it could be a map of Verdun, 1916. What a mess that was! The fort smashed with the French still fighting, holding on for the life of their country as Fritz attacks repetedly. The constant artillery bombardments from both sides.
I think it would be a great map man. Try to reach the others trenches (and bunkers) from the shell holes in no-mans-land? What do you guys think?

Hey! I think it would be great to have a WWI map with rifles only. It's a dern good idea.

I like open maps that utilize ground features for cover, prefer that to some of the urban maps.

It would be an educational experience fer some of the youngfolks.

Ruh Roh...I probably just put them off the idea big-time! LOL

I read WW1 (research) presently. I researched the American Civil War for over 12 years, mainly the common soldier, not the big battles. It took me 7 (SEVEN) years to find out what people use in the 1860 for toilet paper.....you'll NEVER guess..!!!! They used TOILET paper...LMAOOO!!! Only it was called "Sanitary Napkins".

WW1 is facinating to me because it was the begining of the new world. Old world methonds were used against new world weapons. Like the Battle of Verdun...which lasted for 10 months!!! Even today they are still finding equipment , weapons, grenades, etc EVERYwhere in that area. The Forts, Douaumont and Voux, the Mort Homme...all fixed positions but in open ground.

It would be nothing but bolt action rifles with fixed MG positions, grenades, gas, incomming artillery that discriminates against NO ONE! Trenches, pieces of houses, carts, wagons, trees, boulders. The open ground kind of conflict.

OK...OK!! NOW you can tell me to shut up and sit down....hehehehe!!

BUT FIRST....go here and see for yourself.....

http://www.geocities.com/jonluk_2000/world_war_I.html

I'll have updates to this page in the coming days. My next book report is "ATTACKS" by Field Marshal Erwin ROMMEL...when he was a LT/platoon leader in WW1...his personel accounts of the entire war. Most of what is there will surprise the hell outa you..it did me and I'm a retired Gunny (USMC)...LOL!!

Are you all talking about the TOW map where Allies have to turn off the bunker generator and plant a bomb in the bunker behind the fixed MG.......oh and also control the FLAK 88?

That is a fun ass TOW map if that is what you mean.....al in the snow with lots of busted up houses and what not!

I think some of the TOW maps are fun!

Sigma, I think you're talking about the Ardennes map, right? Which was a stock map that came with Spearhead?

I think Sokhar is talking about a custom map that had a bunker complex and trench line for the Germans. It had a couple of pillboxes that had MG42s that swept a "no man's land" in front of the trenchline. The allies started back in the woods behind some dead tanks, and usually had to work their way along the left or right of the map. The right flank on the allies had a several piles of logs that you could creep along for cover and concealment. Was it called Bastogne, guys? I can't remember exactly.
