I am going to need to know how to start a website.
how do i register a domain name, and get added to google yahoo etc... what programing language do I need to learn to do this? (or how much does it cost to have someone do it?) what kinda cost does it take to keep it afloat? Am i missing anything? |

Only register with Yahoo, Google, and MSN. This covers 90% or so fo the search engines. DO NOT submit to the small, you will be spammed to death. HTML is the ONLY language you should need be familiar with if its a BASIC website (and you do not really need that if you use a WYSIWYG editor). The cost depends on the webiste you intend to have and the bandwith you will use. Lots of variables here so its tought to give an accurate estimate ($3 to $100 per month is a range). Out of curiousity, what kind of website do you want to put up?
Of the cheap basic host, this is the one I would recommend http://ripplehost.com/ You have to be VERY careful when you go with a cheap host because most are start-ups that won't last 6 months. Unlike Ripplehost who has been around for several years, the only bad part is the offer no real support besides the basics. 99% of the questions you would have can be answered on the web, so you don't really need hands on support for a basic site. -------------------- Not a word was spoken to contradict or disagree with S@bot when he called me a....

I dont expect to do much bsiness at first on there, might need to add a tracking thing but that will come later. |

Ripplehost is definietly inexpensive...good find Druid. I use hostdime (http://www.hostdime.com/) for reseller accounts and they aren't bad.
(WYSIWIG) What You See Is What You Get--These are programs that create the HTML coding for webpages. The most popular ones are Dreamweaver, Frontpage, and GoLive but there are others out there. There are also some services that let you create the website online. Is this mystery website a big secret? basicly I am starting my own company (expeditied freight) and just need something with information and rates and as i grow add more services etc. just basic advertizing blah blah blah nothing real exciting... Now if I said porn web site how many of you would be more intrested? lol
