I haven't noticed any lag. But I remember the days of the UO servers having periodic lag, hope that doesn't start happening to me on COD 2.

I can't say this enough times.
Servers side there are only two things which would cause lag. CPU choke Network issues at the data center. Neither of these are a problem. 90+ percent of the time it's going to be caused by your connection to the server. By your connection I don't mean you but your route to the server. Minuscule network issues that happen all the time are not even noticeable in anything but gaming because its so susceptible to small fluctuations in latency and packet loss. As these small fluctuations grow they become noticeable as lag. Comcast users over the last week have had all kinds of problems. Which by the way wasn't even related to comcast, it was simply the majority of them were using the same route to the data center where are servers are located. I think it was related to a hop on Level3. There are 5 major network pipes suppling our servers. MCI UUNET Savvis Level3 Internap When any of these network providers have a problem, a percentage of the people on the server will notice it as lag. These issue happen all the time and are out of our control. Luckily whatever is causing the problem is normally fixed rather quickly. If there was any issue actually on our server causing lag it would be noticeable by EVERYONE on the server. Otherwise it's network related. -------------------- Not a word was spoken to contradict or disagree with S@bot when he called me a....

BULLET does...
QUOTE Druid Posted Yesterday, 1:20 PM 90+ percent of the time it's going to be caused by your connection to the server. Druid, even evening, it starts at 8:40ish, we have connection probs on our comp. Every other time, it's fine... Well, it has normal pings of 50-60. Then it starts rising. In about 5 min. it goes to 110 ping then as the night goes by, me and my dad find it at 200-230.... Then in the mornings it's fine with 40-60.... It's for every server too... and both America's Army and CoD2 cuz my dad doesn't play CoD2... What's up with that? -------------------- [ QUOTE Jesus throws satchels at people... |

Hey Guys. If one thing I have learned about running servers is this. It does not matter where in the states you are from and what route you connect to get to these servers, if there is a bad or over loaded router....you could experience lag spikes. I personally am from Kansas City and no matter what, I am routed through Chicago which has a load of pipe jam and I sometimes wanna pull out my hair. Well what's left of it lol.
Anyway in short, you can have a monster computer, a great cable connection and a ton of talent "like me lol", but you cannot control over loaded or bad routers. Anyway, I still love your servers and I can deal with a lag spike hear and there.....peace |
