I for one would be happy to donate some cash to the running of MOB2, I dont know who pays for it right now but its probably FK!

If theres a way to support this service (other than getting used for target practice) then let me know!!!! biggrin.gif

Maybe FK could shed some light on the costs ? I noticed there was a problem with the downloads section due to lack of space. Well as we all use MOB2 and bitch when its not there how about putting your hands in your pocket to show some appreciation !

any one else with thought on this ? Also importantly how could we donate to MOB2 running costs securely ?

regards

Just go to paypal.com and sign up for it. Using your checking account would be better because when you use credit the full amount you send has some charges deducted from it. That's how I send money to server one and have had no problems. Warmunger

I just sent some today, though I noticed a little Canadian doesn't go very far after the exchange rate. Still it was the best I can do since Revenue Canada and the Student Loan Death Squads are finally on to me.

Maybe a little will go a long way if we all chip in.

I don't like to put much information out there either. I found FKs address to send it to him. I don't know if FK pays for the server by himself, but I know somebody is. As far as I know, it's 350 a month. When FK played the April Fools joke, there were 35 people that responded pretty quickly. That would mean $10 a month would cover it. Hopefully there will be enough regular people that will help him keep the server running. Thanks

Well EagleEye took care of most of the facts so I'll fill in the details. I used to run server 2 as a hosted server from Artofwarcentral since they are the absloute best hosting company out there. I paid the usual 8 bucks a player and did that for many months. The hosting company makes money that way by running 10 to 15 games on each server so it keeps the cost down.
Then Spearhead came out and as most of you know server providers went haywire since the CPU utilization in this game goes through the roof. Now most hosting companies only run 2 to 3 Spearhead games on a server and their cost went up dramatically. I tried that with AOWC for a month or 2 but custom maps are very hard on the server so it was getting to the point I could not use custom maps that way.

Finally 3 months ago I changed to a dedicated server, still with AOWC. That means the put a server in Atlanta and the entire thing is mine. I only run one game at a time on it and keep the player count down so it runs as smoothly as possible. Sibnce I have my own complete box the cost is obviously going to be much higher. Currently I pay $350.00 US dollars a month.

Now with that said this is history only, I am not asking you guys to take over paying for this, and if it gets to the point that I really need the financial help I will be the first to start begging. I will certainly get a financial plan in place before I shut it down so don't think you will wake up one day and it will be gone... unless it's April 1st. biggrin.gif

Finally many people have started contributing to the server over the last 3 months and although I don't ask for money it does help keep my wife happy. laugh.gif

So IF and only IF you want to donate you can paypal me at jsemberger@sc.rr.com or mail me the money at:

John Semberger
407 North Woodlake Dr.
Columbia SC 29229

Again thanks for all the great support you guys have and continue to be.
