Heh, i got Bells palsy... its not cool, my left eye is half-open when I sleep, and I basicly look like a retard, or more of with bells palsy than usual dribble.gif ... Its quite interesting, being paralized on one side of your face... makes you wonder about how difficult it would be if you were in a accident, and your spinal cord was all screwed up, and be paralized all over the body... just thinking about it gives me the chills... and this experiance makes me give mad respect to people that are paralized, and still manage to carry on with their lives...

Bell's palsy is a neurological disorder caused by damage to the seventh cranial nerve, also known as the facial nerve, which results in weakness or paralysis on one side of the face. The paralysis causes distortion of facial features and interferes with normal functions, such as closing the eye and eating. The onset of Bell's palsy is usually sudden. Many people wake up in the morning and find that one side of their face is paralyzed. Patients often fear that they have suffered a stroke, but Bell's palsy is not related to stroke. Milder symptoms include tingling around the lips or a dry eye, and usually progress quickly, reaching maximum severity in 48 hours or less.

I am 16, and just as Gorge Clooney experiensing Bells palsy in high school...
I did see a doctor and tomorow I'll see a neurologist... thanks for the concern... it really dosen't hurt or anything, just sort of makes you look like you had some issues, or if you see just the affected side you would think I am acting serious as hell about everything...
The worst part is that pronounsing B's and P's is hard, thus when I explained to people in school what I had I said something along the lines of >Whbhell's whphalsy< not Bells palsy...

I must say to everyone, this is not a plesant thing, and if you feel pain around your ear, and if your taste on the same side as the ear's pain is not there or ackward (the day before my face was paralized, when I drank orange juice on the right side(unaffected) it tasted like orange juice and on the left side(the affected side) it tasted like water with soap), then next day you'll just wake up and realize that your face on one side is paralized... so watch yourselves out there...

My brother has had the Bells Palsy thing happen to him twice over the years. It came on him for no reason and went away a few days later just as mysteriously. All the doc told him was to wait it out and it would go away, and it did, and he was back to totally normal. It's sure a wierd thing.

Hope it goes away for you real soon. Sorry to hear about it. Take care.

just a heads up atp. i had a really bad accident in 98 and have had severe back trouble since.i tried western medicine but nothing they did worked.i read alot and started going to accupuncture which has made my life alot less painful.the day i started there was a guy who was also starting who had bells palsey but i could tell it was in the later stages as he could barely talk.i have had a few friends with bp and unfortunetly (not that its the reason) have seen bp as a bartender here and there,so im a little familiar with the disease.i was actually amazed because i saw this guy 4 weeks later and barely could recognize him ,he was in thanking the chinese doctors, totally cured! im not saying that every case could be cured but it is another option you may want to investigate.

Thanks yall, and yeah, my neurologist told me that basically the nerves got to grow back and really there isin't much that will speed this up... I am taiking steriods, and my sisters told me that I talk like Sylvertser Stalone...

I was gonna be in a school play "Rumors" by Neil Simon, its a comedy, and I played Ben Welch, the "no nonsence" cop... and this BP won't stop me either, actually it will make it funnier, because I am sopposed to be really serious trought my performance, and with a half paralized, and expressionless face, it will make it easier...

And now that I got all my medication(steroids{!!!}, eye drops, oitment for the eye, and a pirate eye patch{so at night my eye dosen't dry up and mess up the cortex, because then I would go blind!}), I can do everything like as if I were normal, so you'll see me on the battelfield...

Well for 10 bucks I'll punch you in that side of the face and see if it fixes it. And if it doesn't, for easy installments of 5 bucks I'll punch you in the other side to make it match.

smile.gif Lol J/k. Hope you get better soon man.
