sounds pretty unaccurate with a non-rifled barrel. Probably plenty of other funner guns out there for the money. Now if it was full auto.........

Don't know much about the tommy gun and the rifled barrel, may be it wasn't rifled. It says it's done exactly as the originals. I DO know about the 'grease gun', used one in the Corps back in '70. It was a smooth barrel too' believe it or not. The accruacy of one of these things is about the same as the pistol. If you hold it steady it'll shoot straight, .......at targets!!!! LMAO!!! Try holding it straight when some scream'n idiot is runn'n at ya with bayonet. Thats how close you have to be to use it. Within pistil range......about 30 yards MAX! The .45 slug drops at an astounding rate because it's so heavy. That 'grease gun' I used was about the same as the tommy gun, only a bit better in my opinion. Short burst, 3 to 5 rounds, was about all a man could hold in a group the size of a man within 30 yards. Hell....even at 30 yards it would spray like a water hose , depending on the man using it.

the smooth barrel means that the top of the outside of the barrel near the foregrip does not have the cooling ribs. the 1927 a1 model had these where as the m1 did not. I believe that all of these as well as wthe grease gun did have rifled barrels. The only gun in ww2 that did not have a rifled barrel was the Sherman Tank. This is one of the reasons that the Sherman was inferior to the German tanks. Of course we countered this by having more tanks.

The sherman had inferior armor, accuracy and firepower. It did have very good speed, higher numbers, and air support. The germans had superior weapons and equipment in just about every category. The deciding factor was that they were lead by an insane fool that knew very little about warfare. If rommels hands werent tied by hitler, he would have thrown the allies back into the sea at normandy. The russia offesive was a disaster. And he spiraled downhill from there.
I think the grease gun was designed off of the tommy. It was a cheaper, lighter, slightly altered version of the tommy that could be mass produced. -------------------- ![]() |
