Wondering policy on Long Range base shots on Tuchola Forest Server. Have been noticing it a lot lately and was hoping for clarification.

Maybe I'm mixed up but he asked about long range shots...not pak shots. As for the information I have if you find a long range shot and it works you can use them. iv never hit a base with a pak in TF. i tried but i cant. i usualy dont do long range base attacks any way. as for using tanks for it in TF i have seen this done before.

You never hit a base with a pak in TF because they won't reach. ScrapyardBob was very specific about this in his design comments. He was also specific about allowing tanks to hit them from long range. I jumped on last night as a Russian when the Germans had all the Russion bases cracked with R1 and R3 destroyed, with I think around 30 minutes left in the round. Meanwhile, none of the German bases had been breached. Using long distance shelling, we were able to breach G1 and G3 which really evened up the action, forcing the Germans to play some defense as well. Glad to see that nobody has figured out how to shell bases with the paks.
 We (myself and other MOB members) spent *hours* playing around with the paks during early development, making sure that you couldn't use them to either spawn kill or hit bases from across the map. Long-range shelling with tanks, OTOH, was not a solvable problem, although we made it at least somewhat difficult. --------------------   |
