I didn't find any show-stoppers in the demo. The guns shoot fine and the graphics are good. Also, the game run smoothly even with the graphics set high and 1280x1024, which is a great sign.

Don't know why they're making such a big deal out of how different the gameplay will be, because it seems pretty typical to me. I mean, you're moving with other soldiers, fighting in the streets and etc, blowing up the objectives.

The first time I played it, I ran out of ammo before realizing you have to look for and run over small boxes that give ammo. It's kinda funny that if you run over a dead german's ammo box, it gives you thompson ammo, etc.

The reward system is pretty cool. So far I've found that awards bring a pistol grip, double-sided clips of ammo, and better aiming. I found it's easier to earn the rewards if you go into side rooms and wipe out enemies instead of strictly following mission objective routes.

Guess my final impression is that the single-player demo doesn't give much towards what multiplayer might be like.

Dissapointed, I downloaded and installed. Got all excited to try it out inbetween meetings this morning and it said my graphics card is not supported. I don't have the best card in the world and it's a few years old, but I've been able to play every other game that's come out lately. With all the talk on graphic stuff and how DirectX 10.0 isn't supporting $400 cards that came out 6 months ago, I might just call it quits on trying to play Airborne. sad.gif

First impression is it's pretty difficult. A few things I don't like but part of that is just getting use to a new game I think. Biggest gripe so far is that every time I start the game I have to watch 45 seconds of EA telling me that they made the game and showing me how great they are for making games. Blah to that. But graphics are great. Game play is good. A little confusing trying to figure out who is what and where they are going and what they want you to do but overall fun so far.

I downloaded it from fileplanet.com. Took 2 hours to download, as it looks like they are limiting it to about 250Kps! The demo is 1.27GB!

OK second impression. Single player is a lot of fun although really difficult to start with (on normal setting anyway). I'm a bit concerned about how the multiplayer will play though. Rifles are pretty difficult to use and I'm afraid will be outmatched by the SMG's. Steering the parachute is pretty difficult as well. I like that you can land anywhere and take out the objectives as you see fit. For example I crashed right into the most difficult of the 4 objectives and came out blasting one time and had a great time doing it. The next time I landed on a roof made my way around and picked them off with a rifle. This is lots of fun and the maps seem like they will be fun on MP. If you have ever played Day of Defeat that's what the rifles remind me of. The demo left me wanting more so I guess overall it must be getting something right....

Well, it doesn't like my old ATI-X600 pro card at all. Of course,
I sorta knew that someday that card would run out of steam.
And yes, Bargod, I can play COD2 quite well with my old card too.
I knnda have been looking around at the newer cards and most
seem to recommend either the GeF 7950 or the more expensive
GeF 8800. I think I will move away from ATI. Their cards are
not quite up to par with the GrForce cards. Of course, 512 mg.
of ram on the card is a given....

I tried it with my 7800 and it worked decent.

The map is very dark.

I don't know if I like the muzzle flash on the Thompson. I definately like the MP40 and the Kar98.
