OK, Purchased Call of Duty4 and can't seem to get it up and running online.

First off I added the IP's in HLSW. it shows the 3 new {MOB} servers as COD4,
but launches the original Call of Duty? (Am I missing a setting here?)

The second problem I'm having is with changing any graphics settings.
I'm trying to change the screen size from 600x800 to 1280x1024.

Everytime I hit apply (in either single player or multiplayer) it dumps me completely out of the game and a pop up describes a unrecoverable Direct x error.

I've re-updated the Directx 9.0c with no help.

I'm running a Sony Viao laptop.
Intel Centrino (t7200 dual gore @2.0 Ghz)
2.0 Gig of ram
Nvidia GeForce Go 7400 card.

I should be able to run this game pretty easily.

Open for any suggestions.

I had the same problem tweaking the graphics settings. I solved it by editing the config file manually for my sound and video. Update your 7400 driver too. Should be golden after that. If all else fails, delete that file that Krueger mentioned. Might help too.

Blitz if you have xfire open while changing settings it will crash you as well. Might be that whatever program that is you are adding those IP's into might be doing that too.

I believe you have to manually find the game exe. file , cod4 etc, on your C drive and include it to your HLSW games. I forget the exact menu in HLSW though.

It doesn't automatically include it, especially cause its a new game.

Thanks Mule,

I could not find out how to get the program to look for COD4 as an available game.
You can however re-direct the startup to run the COD4 Multiplayer startup.exe instead.
This seems to trick the game and works fine.

My problem was X-fire. Even though I was not logged on it was causing the problems. I had to shut it down completly. Once I did that I was fine.

Now all I need to do is get rid of that crappy 150 ping and I'll be fine.

OHH and a word to the wise about buying a Sony laptop, I went to Nvidia's website and they informed me that I had to get the drivers thru Sony. (for the Nvidia GeForce go 7400 video card) cussing.gif

Of course Sony has no updates there. Nvidia seems to have a ton of other driver updates for their cards just not my "Sony" card!!! cussing.gif

The game looks interesting, just have to wait and see when I get everything tweaked out.
Right now it feels a little choppy, and the mouse is not very fluid, I can't seem to find a good setting, but of course I keep tweaking things so It's never running the same.

Glad that xfire was the cause. I thought it might be as I had a similar problem with COD2 and COD4. Strange that they don't offer any support for their video card. Hope you get it worked out. Otherwise you'll have to build a new system so you can come shoot us a few times.
