I MAY be getting a new computer, I know that a thread like this will probably grow to five pages; but, I am debating as to whether I should get Intel or Amd. And for the video card, nvidia or ATI..I am leaning towards the NVIDIA 5900 256mb. card. Vs. the 9800pro 256mb...due to previous experiences w/ ATI.
One thing I am noticing is that you pay more for intel over AMD. All I want is perfomance & dependability, not sure if the extra cost is worth it.

For compatibility and performance Intel is the way to go. As for the video card, I have always had NVIDIA until the ATI Radeon 9700 Pro came out. I have the ATI and I love it. Absolutely no problems.

As always... IMHO

Only thing is, is that the nvidia benchmarks get better FPS then the 9800 pro 256mb.

IMHO?

Ah yes but ATi has better image quality than nVidia, so as causing less frames.

Dont be turned away from ATi cause you burned your shit also, but it nVidia looks beter for you than get it, just dont base the companys on a mistake you made.

As for the AMD vs Intel, why pay $8 mill for an intel chip, went you can get all the same things from AMD, which also does more per cycle giving you a faster chip.

Example: My chip is a AMD XP 1900+, it runs at 1.6ghz 266fsb, and it out performs the Intel P4 1.9ghz 400fsb with no problem, and when they were both brand new I payed much less and got more performance. Never had any crashing or anything like that either. My computer is on 24/7.

Also make sure you get/have XP its sweet as hell, havent reformatted or reinstalled since 2/26/03

I heard someone saying that the new FX series cards were very loud....Can't say that for a fact though. I just got my new system put together tonight....Can't wait to try it out. Considering I'm going from a 750 Duron with a GeForce2 Vid card, this will be damn near orgasmic! I went with the ASUS A7N8X Deluxe MOBO, AthlonXP 2500+ 333FSB/Barton Core...And a ATI Radeon 9500 PRO 128meg Video card. Should definately make gaming a whole new experience.

Oh ya JP? I know you'll add your 2 cents worth here, so I'll leave ya with this message....Bring it on Beeyatch! action-smiley-055.gif
