i have to write a 5 page essay on whether or not the North African Campaign was a turning point in WW2.

I believe that common concensus has it that Africa was a turning point in the war. Maybe not a decisive point, but definately a turning point. By defeating the Afrika Korps and taking back North Africa, the Allies were able to Launch attacks into Sicily and Italy removing the Italians from the war. The loss of Africa forced the Germans hand into invading Russia to get to oil instead of an easier route through the middle east. Because of the terrain, they were forced to go North before they could turn south to get to the oil.
This of course is how I remember learning about it. You need to verify and document your sources. --------------------   |
