Thats good! I've been using a pc for years, I have never had a virus. period. I use a simple program called AVG and I only scan like once a month. I keep computer updated and scan for spyware monthly. Usually never find any of that either. I go where I want to on the net, I just know when something pops up, what to click and what not to click! You could call it lucky, but I prefer to think of it as good housekeeping!
Regards, Oh P.S. Mac had a new virus out like a couple of weeks ago! and 2 mottos to live by If it can be done, it can be undone! Where theres' a will, there is a way. This post has been edited by Radiation: 05/27/06 10:51am |

cant say i havent looked into a mac recently though-just not enough ram in my opinion, but what do i know? Not that I want to encourage any PC vs Mac discussions (I really don't), but I will say that Undead is right, the stock Macs are preconfigured with grossly inadequate RAM. I'm probably wrong, but I think Apple does this because most people want to add RAM to tailor their computer to fit their needs. I'm a photographer and I do a lot of RAM intensive work so I've tricked my box out with 3 GIGs of RAM. I wouldn't have liked it if I had to pay for and then throw out smaller RAM chips that wouldn't have enabled me to maximize my available slots. If you buy a Mac through the Apple store, you can select any level of RAM that fits your needs. I think Apple's better point comes from the ads where they talk about freezes and crashes. The blue screen of death just doesn't ever happen on my Mac. The underlying UNIX system is rock solid and Apple has done some terrific work to build a reliable, fast system on top of it. Now that we can run Windows, UNIX and the Mac OS, that Apple box is looking pretty damn slick (with the exception of the latest laptops with the Intel chip - they totally missed the mark by failing to provide an adequate graphics card). But, who really cares? It is like the Ford-Chevy arguments ... or perhaps, more like Ford-Porsche arguments. A Mac is clearly equivalent in the computing world to the lofty place that Porsche retains in the automotive world. Sure, you can buy a cheaper car, but the experience is pretty damn well worth the ride. |
