Do any of you hardware guys out there know if there is any difference in cable modems as far as speed goes?
Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated. |

Not much of a difference in speed, BUT..... be sure that whatever cable modem you select will work with the transmission equipment used by your cable company/ISP. Not all modems work with all transmission gear (I speak from experience on this). Your cable company/ISP should be able to provide you with a list of "approved" modems.
As for the USB vs. ethernet connection, mox nix. USB transfer rates are actually significantly faster, so the limiting factor is the speed of your connection to the backbone, not the connection from the modem to the computer. -------------------- ![]() |
