My sincerest apologies CodeName.
I've re-read all of your posts since the beginning of this thread several times. And then I looked at the specs for your computer and scanned through the user's manuals for both your motherboard and vid card. Two things come to mind. You could have a bad memory module, but I don't really think that's it. My bigger suspicion now is your power supply. Does your vid card require a power connection? I couldn't tell from the user's manual, it just said "if it does, then...." If it does, I'm thinking that your power supply could be going bad or you might have plugged a power connector into the vid card that really wasn't up to the task (or maybe the power connector has come loose). The manual on your vid card says that your power supply should be 450w and capable of handling a 75watt surge. That's pretty dog-gone beefy. Here's what you've posted that makes me think it may be the power supply. You said that about 5 minutes into the game, poof, it all starts going slowly. Also, you said that you used to hear the fans spin up higher when you went into a game but you don't anymore. You've also defragged, eliminated all spyware/adware and checked for viruses. You've used pingplotter to verify that your ping to the servers is around 20 (wow, I'm jealous!). And you've removed the game and deleted its folder from your hard drive and re-installed. You've also verified that nothing else is running when you're running cod. So, we're pretty much down to the hardware having a problem now. The way our power supplies work is that they give the voltage that they are required to on each of the colored wires, at the amps they say they should. If you suck more amps than what it can deliver, then a power supply will go into what is called a herringbone state... sort of tries to deliver the amps, then reduces the voltage a bit to be able to keep giving the amps, but then realizes the voltage is too low so it ups the voltage which drops the amps. In other words, if you were looking at the voltage on an oscilloscope, the pattern would resemble a herringbone, a jagged up & down line. It only resets itself when the power supply is turned off and left to discharge it's capacitors completely. Okay, so, if the problem is your power supply, you could first try putting in a different power connector to the vid card, with the computer powered-off and the ac line disconnected for a few minutes. Oftentimes, one power supply connector comes from a more beefy (higher amps) feed from the power supply than the others. Sometimes it will have a tag on the line saying "pcie." This may just fix everything. If not, then post here what your power supply is, the brand and model should be enough. I'll look it up and see what all the rails are rated. And if you'd like, please say what memory you have installed, the brand, part number, and size total, if you know these things. I'll look this up too. But it sure seems a memory problem is a long shot at this point. -------------------- [img][/img]
