It's a fact the Sudan government is hiring bands extremist islamists to openly terrorise the Darfur population. Clinton had bombed a 'suspected' terrorist sponsored chemical plant in Sudan a decade ago.
I'm making this thread so that we can observe if similar threats are evolving elsewhere;
First one to post is Somalia and Ethiopia... as this link mentions, Ethiopians and Somali government forces have allied to push out extremist Islamists from the Somali capital. They are assumed to have al quaeda links.

Heehee hey Kleerance, I've always read through old military history/Empires as a past-time - recently I'm focusing on modern history. It seems to me people often miss viewing events from odd angles. Maybe leaders/Generals make blunders by not respecting the obvious consequences of unheeded lessons from the past. Also as you noticed I like to catch/correct some in their tracks in these threads when they make an error of fact [like I've been caught a few times-and I'm glad I was 'educated' rather than get defensive]. Things I point out is France has a military presence in Afghanistan- and the war in Iraq wasn't in response to 9-11.... and the US has many elder folks in Iraq too [married /with families] so lets not forget them too-and their 2,3,4 tours there! Mostly I like to squash any 'gung-ho' posts and those thinking having 'big balls' to throw their political weight around means everything irregardless of Generals/voters/experts opinions- if that was the case, let's fill the White House Administration with the 'star' cast from Jackass the Movie

Actually rumour goes round that some folks here actually go through the excrutiating process of reading my opinions and updates. So just on that I like to share what I hear lately -from unfamiliar angles perhaps.

Like the current new surprise offensive by NATO against the Taliban who are threatening their own large scale offensive. It's interesting to see how the 'Terror' side are off-balancing us with their various contingents applying pressure in Iraq, North/East Africa, and Afghanistan. To me its more of an military resource/economical-draining strategy - perhaps to keep our guard lower from the real clandestine terror cells that are planning to hit on home fronts in a big way.

I'm more worried about Afghanistan as the future threat. If we lose there, Pakistan is the next place to go up. Pakistan has nukes now. And Pakistan is unable to overwhelm Bin Ladens pals/support in Pakistan.

Now a new topic that needs to be discussed here/started is the Walter Reid/vet hospital maintenance neglect scandal.
