Hello folks, I'm not a big techy as you might say and I'm probably in over my head but I'm going to build a new computer for myself here soon and I need some help. I've picked these things out so far:

Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ Windsor 3.0GHz 2 x 1MB L2 Cache Socket AM2 Processor

$170

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16819103773

Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-P35C-DS3R LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard

$160

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813128048

Graphics Card: EVGA 256-P2-N615-TX GeForce 7600GT 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card

$75

RAM: Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814130062

$80

I also need a case and soundcard. I'm not sure what else I need and I don't know if all this stuff is compatible with eachother and for all I know I could be buying scrap metal, so is this stuff good? Is it worth the money? Can you find better deals?

Thanks a ton for any help!

And thanks Nem and Geno for helping earlier today but I still needs tons of help!

You might want to check this out ................. http://www.mysuperpc.com/

Gives all the info you'll need to buy and assemble all the components.

Also setting up the BIOS.

This is a Canadian site but it could be helpful.

www.pccanada.com

Helpful in the way that you can click on any product, then click a link to the manufacturers page for that specific product. There you can read the specs on what they're compatible with. Many other stes are proably the same, but this is the one I know.

Basically, the main thing to understand is your motherboard. What RAM/memory type it supports, and what processor types it supports. Everything else should be pretty much automatic. Any new board should support a new video card that is pci-express.

Of note, many cases come without a power supply. So remember to order it as well.
