IMHO there is not much of a debate. after many years of being a AMD fanboi i have no choice but to conceded that intel holds the CPU crown today and for the foreseeable future

Unless it is a budget gaming machine, in which case AMD may offer better bang for buck. But if you are going mid-tier I'd say Intel wins slightly, at as you approach the higher end, Intel is really killing AMD. So for example, if you're putting together a $800 system, AMD may work for you, a $1200-1300 system, Intel probably wins on a price/performance scale, and if you going cutting edge with a $1800+ system, it's Intel all the way. AMD gets really expensive for their high end stuff that is matched by an Intel processor at a lower price. This testimony from a person with no particular affiliation. I've put computers together with both, and had no regrets. Lately, I put together a $2000 system (about $1800 American) and I put an Intel Core 2 Duo 2750 in it.
