So I splurged and got the game - actually it was CIV 3.
I installed it and memories of fun with CIV 1 came back.
Actually it was more than I expected.... it was destructively too addictive ; I mean it terms of how fast time flies while you play and then keep going for 'just one more turn' endlessly ->>> the last thing self-employed peeplez want is something too time consuming to do on the side.
It lasted four days on my comp then I uninstalled it. I'm sad I did but glad I did at the same time. I mastered one of my flaws -this time.

You were warned; be prepared- by the time you break away from playing it you'll realize you have a full beard, hairy ears, and won't remember barring your door to lock people out.
