I have said over and over again we should be working toward alternative energy!
The problem I have is that we are the only country that does no drill work feverishly for their own energy resources.
It's the Not in my Backyard scenario.

I am sick of hearing blah blah blah 10 years bullshit. We could have been drilling in anwar (a piece of land which has set asides for drilling) we could have been drilling off the coasts, and we SHOULD have been creating nuclear plants (like most of Europe)

We should have been puting money into alternative energy, but we did not!
Now we are stuck we will not have viable alternative energy solutions for everyone in the us for years, we should follow a short term (oil and other fossil fuels) and long term energy plan.

Both parties have failed us, the Dems by blocking domestic energy, the repubs by blocking alternative. Now we have nothing.

But let's face it the rest of the world has no alternative energy solution either and it's not on the emmidate horizon. so in the SHORT term, get as much oil as we can pump the money back into the US economy rather then sending it overseas, and lower the prices.

Congress NEEDS to put together a long term energy plan and drive it. buisnesses do it, but our politicans can't see past their next election

Lastly, I've heard the we will be out of oil for years, and yet we are finding huge new stores of oil all the time, that is not a valid excuse.

Demand for oil is growing MUCH faster than supply... drilling for more oil in the USA will do little (if anything) to lower American gas prices. Our prices for gas in Canada have increased as well - despite Canada's massvie expansion and increase in petroleum production in the last few years. It matters little where the oil "comes from."

It's time for real alternative energy solutions.
