I am not even going to think about buying this game, i've been playing the beta on x box and i reeeeeally dont like the fact that you can get a silencer or apeture sight for most of the weapons. cod2 kicks this games ass

Dean, my dear old buddy - you BLOODY wanker! How good of you to drop by. Good to know you are still about and causing a ruckus.

For the record: COD5 TANKS SUCK ROYAL ASS!! They give you a sight, but it serves no purpose, your elevation marks are completely bogus. Just move your target until it glows red. Shoot through the thickest fog when your sight turns red, you know you are landing a kill. COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS. I didn't realize they had such advanced electronics in WWII. Hell, I could even kill a lone infantryman by aiming through heavy smoke and firing when my sight turned red. BULLSHIT!

And it's not just the tanks, my god, try to play just the single player. It will quickly drive you insane. Not only does it sound like you are underwater, they must have paid for Keifer Sutherland's voice-overs by the word and they clearly didn't want to buy many words!

And yes, my chortling cockney-eyed friend, I should have spent the wasted time I put into COD5 into ArmA training. Hell, that time would have been better spent dusting off an old version of Tetris and whiling away a few mind-numbing hours.

Dean, knock Michael aside from his COD5 for a minute and pick up the MP-44. The bastards have destroyed a right fine piece of equipment. Others may disagree, but I think they turned a beautiful killing instrument into a pea-shooter, and an ugly one to boot.

I'm not sure where I am on the whole health-packs vs recovery period debate. It is pretty lame to be in a firefight, hunkered down behind protection, pop up firing away until you've taken a few rounds, then duck down for cover and watch your health suddenly rebound. Obviously this is ideal if you like to camp. Healthpacks at least force the camper to come out of his secure box and do the vampire trick of gulping up his conquest's blood.

I still say Frontlines: Fuel of War was a step in the right direction. Destructible environment, respawn near your squad (which makes the concept of fighting as a squad in a large theater actually possible) have big tanks but provide the tools to completely disable them. It was interesting to play in a mixed environment with helos and jets, but they were so damn hard to operate properly and in reality they really weren't fun. Frontlines suffered because they didn't have the big bucks like those behind a COD production. The maps kind of reminded me of the first edition of Tuchola Forest when we still had big gaps in the mesh. Not quite ready for prime time.

And, now what? Return to UO?? Maybe I'll go play some Crysis to put me in a better mood.
