Hi Bubba,

During the 1980's WW2 films were not popular. However after the success of " Platoon " 1986 Best film of the year, Vietnam Films became popular. In the 1970's there were only a few film's on the Vietnam conflict, such as the Australian film " Odd Angry Shot " (about the Australians who fought in Vietnam), then I believe it was 1977 " Go Tell the Spartans " appeared about the early days of the war (1964) when Americans were there as advisors, and the war was just getting under way, until the attack in the " Gulf of Tolken " (sorry if there is a typo there). After that incident American began to send over troops. However the earliest war film I can recall about Vietnam other than some minor ones not considered war films, was a film called " Boys in Company C " with Lee J.Ermey (Best known for the Sargeant in " Full Metal Jacket." and actually a sargeant in Vietnam) Also in the 70's one of the best War related Films was " The Deer Hunter (1978) " with Robert Deniro.

A forum in his name is below... Also I put a ebay link to the movie " Boys in Company C " This film sold for big bucks a year ago and was long out of print, but with DVD they reprinted it and in VHS also. Grab it while you can get it.

"Thanks Druid' for putting this post in proper area. Anyone can post now if they request any particular war film or information how to find it. Below is another Out of Print film. Grab it if you ever see it. There is a spanish version (Done with English options on the DVD with the same cover). Although this film can be found in VHS, the DVD original version was quite expensive. I purchased this from Amazon from (the used new section for other users selling videos) But when it was shipped the cover was slightly creased. I was not too pleased about that after paying big bucks, but the DVD ran great.

In my opinion this was my favorite film from the 1950's which depicted the " Korean War (forgotten War) In which several nations participated (Including Canada) It stars: Robert Ryan and Aldo Ray.

Aldo Ray was always my favorite War film actor. He also starred in the war film " Battle Cry " (more drama than war unfortunately - it came out in I beleive 1955 but in Color), But his more noteworthy film was " The Naked And The Dead ", not on DVD so far, the Naked and the Dead was based on the Norman Mailer Novel.
This was one of my all time top 10 favorites, Ray played Sgt. Croft, a mean and cruel Sargeant in WW2. You can get a used copy of the film usually on ebay time to time. I have 3 versions on VHS. One is a clear Widescreen Version, never released on VHS, I purchased a channel on Satilite just to get it.
