Breakup of something good Options

Most will say it is none of my business....but I really dont care what most think. It is somewhat my business and I will explain why later.

The breakup of MOB sucks dog nuts.

I first started playing this game over two years ago. After bouncing around from server to server, not knowing what the hell "Realism" was, I landed on a server, back then just named MOB. There were a bunch of arrogant pricks in there, Cypher, Realdeal, Epacy and a hacker named Pvt Ryan. The more I played on the server, the better I got at the game, and the more I got to know some of these arrogant pricks (Cypher never did warm up to me though.) There were also some real nice guys on this server, Druid, Nixon, Casino Killa. Over time I got to know all these fucktards and played on their server religiously. From this server is where I met alot of the members of my clan now, DMG. The server was always full and we always had a blast on there, until Realdeal showed up and started crying like a little girl, cause I was always spankin his ass. Anyway, thoughs were the days.

MOB was always a clan that people respected and wanted to be a part of. They always had strict recruiting policies and it was probably as hard back then to get into the MOB clan as it is to get into the real Mafia.

Fastforward a couple of years. The game of Mohaa has dwindled down considerably from where it was then. Primarily due to lack of support from the assholes at EA Games. New games have not really taken the place of Mohaa, people just got bored with the same 6 fucking maps. But, this is still mine and many others game of choice. There are a few of us left that support the hell out of this game and do our damndest to make sure there are servers to play on and websites to yuck it up in.

So when I see a break up of a once great clan like MOB it saddens me immensely. Now instead of one great clan, their are now two lesser clans. This does not do the Mohaa community any good. There has to be a clan that half the people love and want to join and the other half hate and want it to die. When a break up like this happens both sides lose. The first half dont want to join as badly and are able to get in more easily, which lessens the value of the clan and the second half quit hating and even caring about the clan they once despised.

I guess what I am saying is that when I see the names, Little Old Man, Nixon, etc., it will always remind me of MOB in the glory days. And I will always ask, Why couldnt they just work this shit out, so that two years of building a good Mohaa clan wasnt sent to hell in a short period of time.

Good luck to both clans. It sucks that it had to happen this way. Disagreements can and should always be worked out without a divorce. Now there are two clans we have to whip the shit out of to prove they should of stuck together.

Ashe in his strange but always funny way brings up what has been on my mind of late.
This sudden parting of the ways for many members of MOB has left me bouncing between sad, frustrated and angry depending upon the day. I sit here thinking about the impact {MOB} has had on me and in a general sense this silly game we all love to play. Prior to playing the demo of MOHAA I was a huge flight and submarine simulator fan. Now even though by today’s standards Flacon4 is about as cutting edge as the original Atria pong, I still get a huge kick of my monthly dogfight battles with my old falcon4 buddy. I can remember it as if it was yesterday, when a friend recommended I download the MOHAA demo. I remember telling him, nah.. those 1st person shooters games are stupid. It was a few days after Christmas and I didn’t have to go back to work for 2 weeks. So I decided what the hell, I got time to waste. Within the 1st hour I was hooked. I remember playing The Hunt day and night for the rest of my Christmas vacation. In fact, there were a few times when my hands went numb from playing non-stop until I finally went to bed out of sheer exhaustion. I just couldn’t get enough of the game.

When MOHAA was released at the end of January 2002, I was in hog heaven. Wow… now I had almost a dozen maps to play. Let me tell you I played them all 100’s of times during the next few months. I would load up Gamespy, head for to the server with the lowest ping and an empty slot. Then one day I happened into a server by the name s4r and I found my new home for the next few months. By a strange coincidence, the s4r server is the only reason I found my way to {MOB}. During the time I made the s4r server my MOHAA home, there were dozens of people who I regularly played with/against. The two names I remember most are Oppression and Cleaner. I was in awe of the abilities of those two guys. Although what really made there names stick with me wasn’t how good of players they were but how much I enjoyed playing against them. Unlike many of the other exceptional players on the s4r server, these guys didn’t boast about their scores, they just played the game and played it very well. My scores rarely came close to them but I always felt like a badass whenever I got in a lucky shot and killed them. I think this is the main reason why I’m such a huge supporter of Missionary. I always give some thought to the average players who will fell like they beat the king of the mountain whenever they get in those lucky shots. It’s just not the same if you know or think the top player in the server is just a cheater. It robs all the excitement and the feeling of accomplishment if you think that great player you killed was nothing but a cheater.

Several months later, I happen to find my way to the MOB server one night. 1st thing I thought of when I saw the player list was wondering if {MOB}Oppression was the same Opp from the s4r server. Well it turns out he was. I think I had been playing on the {MOB} server for less then two weeks when one night Clan Killa asked if I would be interested in joining. Keep in mind this was in the early days of MOHAA, anyone and everyone was trying to start a clan. Even average players like me had been asked dozens of times to join this clan or that clan, 90% of which wouldn’t last 6 months.
So in mid July 2002 ( I wonder how many people can accurately remember when they joined their clan, just goes to show how special MOB is to me ) Clan Killa asked if I would be interested in joining MOB. I never had much interest in joining a clan, in fact at the time I thought the whole idea of clans rather stupid.
Three things made me give MOB serious thought to joining when I had turned everyone else down. One I enjoyed playing with all of them, everybody was friendly and fun. Another reason was I really enjoyed the strong competition of most of the {MOB} members. The final and biggest reason was Clan Killa telling me Oppression had recommended me, to me that was a huge honor, so I said yes. Next came the tryout, Oh my god I was so nervous. It was ten times worse than any test I had taken in real life. Luckily, I played better than normal during my tryout or things may have been completely different.
I’m sure some of the MOB members who left saw themselves as the reason for the existence MOB.
For me I think it’s different,
When I think of MOB, I think of all the crazy shit Clan Killa use to say and come up with. It always amazed me how someone who was so computer illiterate could play so good. I think of Raven who wasn’t much of a player but was always so excited for
us during our matches. Here was a person who was so into MOB he would constantly refresh the gamespy window to check the scores during matches. The kind of person who’s enthusiasm tended to rub off and you always felt a little better after talking to him.
Rican who was the 1st person in MOB that I developed a sense of friendship with.
F_K who without his early support {MOB} would probably never of existed, plus who I think never got the recognition he deserved for all of the time and effort he put in his server. Nixon who I think I shared the most in common with as far as overall attitude. Little old man who was without a doubt one of the nicest guys in {MOB}. Here is a soon to be retired teamster who I constantly worried about the same way I would a little brother. I was always concerned he would leave because he didn’t feel like he fit in with the younger MOB players. Casino Killa who has always existed in the background, like a ghost of MOB past but one of the few MOB members I can think of who has never caused a single problem or had a bad word to say about anyone.

The question of why the split has been asked about a dozen times. I think like most problems it was caused by little stuff left unresolved. I see myself as partly to blame.
There has been a running joke for the last year and a half referring to me as the consigliere ( meaning advisor ). I’ve always been kind of the answer man at MOB. For a while I saw some of these little issues builing up but out of plain apathy did nothing about it.

For once Ashe got something right.
Now instead of one great clan we have two lesser ones. What continues to surprise me is people thought this was for the best. There have been times when I felt like walking away form {MOB} for one reason or another. I just couldn’t bring myself to do it, it just didn’t feel right to give up on something you put so much time and effort into. I only wish others would of seen it the same way.
