I feel sorry for people in that position Silver. My father was in the same spot, he didn't plan for retirement and was fired on his 60th birthday. After 3 tours in Vietnam and nearly 30 years in the military he retired as a Master Sgt. and couldn't live on the retirement checks alone.
The job he got after retirement was traveling around the world and raising the level of security on all the embassies we have. Ironically he was fired because his position was swallowed by the Department of Homeland Security. He has since landed on his feet but it was tough for a year. The best device the federal govt has to create jobs is through tax breaks and even then you are guessing that the companies benefiting from them are going to hire more people. Total crapshoot. You were half right when you said nobody cares. They only care if you vote. Cypher |
