Gmail is web based email. Similar to a yahoo email account only you get 1G of free space instead of 100MB.
Its basically designed to be an email account with enough space to archive information instead of having to constantly delete your emails to free up space. Its great and its FREE. I think there was an issue when it came out concerning their right to view your emails?
