So, how about the bombings in London today?

I'll tell you how I felt. I was filled with rage when I heard about them. I think 9/11 scared me because it was here on U.S. soil, but this pisses me off, maybe just because it's too far away for me to be immediately scared. I do not understand how people can do things like that. Last I heard the death toll was over 40, but that was this morning. 40 civilians.... I know it's nothing compared to 9-11, but still. The cowardice that it must take to kill innocent people to support a cause....

And what makes it worse is in my mind, I can see someone about 4 years from now telling everyone that it was the British government that planted all the bombs.... Sickening.

Here was the naive liberal response of my wife...
"Isn't it amazing how much everyone hates the United States?"

I almost choked on my chili when she said this. She is an intelligent woman, but this was the dumbest thing I ever heard her say.

"Yes honey, they hate America so much they are going to kill the British to make them not be our allies..."

She thought the strategy made sense. WOW, she has no sense of history at all. Hell, if the US left the Mid East now it wouldn't matter. The Enlish don't fuck around. They have dealt with bombings for most of the last 30 years. They don't let themselves get pushed around. If the US said tomorrow, we are leaving Iraq and Afghanistan the English would say, "Oh well" and do their best on their own.

God, I hate people that only listen to the news and don't pay attention to history or understand how people really feel and think.
