Oh, the temptation to cheat... Options

Hey guys,

Once a gain, always a pleasure to play on your servers.

A few things I have noticed though... Aimbot is alive and well, as are a few other funky things. Some people suffer no damage or "shellshock effects" from running through enemy arty, or the same from planting a tank main gun round at their feet - they just keep on running along; and another is something along the lines of being "bulletproof": for example, if I sneak up on an enemy, dump a sub-gun into their back (strangely getting no hits), only to have them turn around and blast me to hell, or having to shoot a light tank 2-3 x squarely in the rear armor with a bazooka to destroy it. It isn't lag, (and before you start the insults, I am not just playing sucky or missing the target) Its's something else... it can be very frustrating.

In a round-about way I guess I'm asking is Punk Buster doing anything at all besides kicking people for having a high ping? Or "not returning key packets" or some such? People are still cheating. Makes me wish I could give the same treatment right back to the punks who pull this crap.

Of course, this does cause me to keep my skills sharp. Hmmm... maybe its not so bad after all.

Eh, perhaps I'm just venting.

"Although it's true PB may not catch a cheat which is not openly shared,
but keep in mind a few points.
95% of the people who would cheat are clueless how to make 1, so they have to download their cheats which are all blocked via PB.
The other 5% may be able to write their own cheat, but 99% of the time it's going to be a simple cheat which will still be blocked because it's nothing more than a rehashed version of a cheat openly shared.

I've no doubt there is a few people who write their own private cheats but this number is minuscule when compared to the number of people playing the game."



you forgot to consider the "private" hacks...which arent released on hacking websites for anyone and everyone (punkbuster included) to download...rather the "private" hacks are sold to these 95% of ppl who would cheat, but cannot make their own hack....this is the majority of ppl who use hacks in Cod UO, as long as they dont share their precious little toy with anyone who might share it with others etc PB will never be able to detect it...
