curious to see what your fav ww 2 movie is BEFORE 1995 as saving private ryan is a given.

I think he was laughing because my post was double edged. Kind of joking that someone turned around and saw me crying... but on the same hand, there were many parts in that movie that I got a bit emotional. Usually it was just the heavy chest with the lump in the throat but I had a little tear overfill from the eyes as well. When Mellish took the knife in the chest while Upham just sits out on the stairs... I was freaking!
Oh, and speaking of filming on site. That movie "In the Army Now" with Pauly Shore and Andy Dick... the boot camp sequence was filmed at Ft. Sill, OK where I did my boot camp and AIT. That place crazy sucks. --------------------  |

Yep that Mellish scene was 'tense'. But I can understand Upham's freezing. I remember in High School gym classes I loved going on the high bar/climbing but one day the gym class teacher wanted be to flip backwards while sitting on the high bar, and confident as I was before that on the high bar, I just froze in place.... my mind wanted to proceed but my body just held on as if for dear life. Too bad it took the horrors of WW1 and the awful frequency of British/French executions for cases of cowardice to somewhat understand combat fatigue and the effect on young people who endure hails of flying lead/metal projectiles.
