I went back in after you left and posted this: Kursk 168-5

I'm kind of stunned I could do that without you covering my ass!

I played this map for the first time in a LONG time the other day - and i had to leave because I was getting too angry. I was Russian, and HammaTime was in that heavy tank just firing away, killing all troops within a 5 mile radius of the shell's impact. I couldnt believe it. action-smiley-055.gif

And Lipton, I too anxiously await the honing of your skills in Barby. Its been a while, with little or no progress. laugh.gif wink.gif

Sorry to ruin your day in Kursk, Captain! Nothing personal. wub.gif I've admired your outstanding skills.

Perhaps next time we're on that map we'll be able to team up and do some real slaughtering.

There are some outstanding regulars that seem to delight in the challenges of playing Russian on the Kursk map. Wolverine and your counterpart, Crazy Canuck come to mind. Crazy Canuck has honed his skills with a one-shot hit on my heavy which seemingly can take me out from any angle. .:some_help:. delights in hunting me down on foot and blasting an RPG into my gas tank.

When I'm hammering from the hillsides, I'm always mindful of the 350,000 soldiers who lost their lives during the real siege of Kursk. And, I know that Elefant drives opponents nuts because of its astounding ability to lay waste. One killed a T-34 from a range of three miles - unheard of in those days. The Elefant's weakness during Kursk was its lack of mobility and a lack of a mounted mg (something the COD designers cheated with a bit), making it prime pickings for infantry if left unprotected.

In game, many people scream at the heavies to move in. That's the last thing a heavy should do. Porsche designed it as a long distance killing machine. It is too slow to engage in close-in battle, but set two up on the hillsides overlooking the Russian base and get ready for a siege!
