A cool idea for a WW2 game... Options

OK, here is my idea...

IMO, I can't believe no major studio has thought of it...

We've seen a million WW2 games. what made COD a little unique was you got to play someone other than American. I mean, playing Russian, with you commanders shooting you in the back if you didn't move forward...that was cool!

But anyway, here's the idea. Have a WW2 game where your main solider is...

are you ready...

GERMAN!!!!

Make your main soldier a conscripted German.

Start the game at the turn of the tide. Say D-Day.

Reverse the objectives. Instead of moving forwards, you move backwards. The key being to do one thing.

Survive.

You constantly have to fall back! All you can try and do is slow the advance enough to protect your fellow soldiers while they retreat. You can't win. You can only...

Survive!

It's the perfect scenario for the FPS. I mean really, the FPS always pits you against overwhelming odds, which is a little silly if you consider the Allies won, their odds weren't that overwhelming. It's the Germans who were undermanned, not the Allies.

It'd be cool to play a game like Germans, with superior weapons, but too few soldiers, and fighting in retreat for the latter half of the war.

Like I say, playing a conscripted soldier would allow you to avoid the whole "Nazi" aspect. Conscripted soldiers were only following orders, doing their job, fighting for their country.

I think it'd be cool. And add a whole new perspective. Imagine playing the "no hope" side for once. Fighting you ass off only to protect a few friends while in full retreat. Heroism history has never recorded because history is only written by the victors.

Anyway, I'd play it, if it was done right. Hitler was evil, and so were those who believed in his goals, but that doesnt mean there weren't German heroes. I've played an Allied hero a dozen times. Time to give the other side its due.
