Saying that you're ignorant isn't attacking you. See the smiley in the first post. I'm just saying that if you think there are only hundreds of soccer fans in the US, you're wrong. To make that statement and think that you're correct is ignorance. Not saying that it's a bad thing, you're just misinformed. It's not that I don't disagree with you, you're just wrong.
Obviously you're posting in this thread because; A: Just trying to start shit B: You're actually honest about not knowing shit about soccer and are completely misinformed. Seriously, if you don't like soccer... why post here? Go back to watching cars drive in circles while you consume Miller Lite and pork rinds, leave soccer fans alone. MLS wouldn't be around if it didn't have thousands of fans btw, check the attendances. Yes, the sport isn't as big in the US as it is around the rest of the world but there's a good reason. The US is the Walmart of sports. We have almost everything here so there's a lot for people to choose from. Most of Europe follows soccer, tennis, cricket, etc. We have 24/7 sports programming. Then there's the cro-magnon theory that someone posted before... if they don't understand it or their parents didn't understand it, they now call it "sissy" or "gay" which is so intelligent. When people here post about basketball or baseball, I'm not hopping in those forums and saying that I don't care too much for the sports, etc. I just don't post or sometimes don't even read them because I know I won't have anything to contribute. But hey, thanks for stopping in this thread and sharing your profound theory on soccer... I'll call it theory because I'm going to give you more credit than someone actually asking "so soccer is really a sport?" Goes back to the tried and true, if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all. -------------------- ![]() |

I would love to see another home team pull it off like France did. But not at the expence of the azzura. It has been a long time for Italia, and I can only rember roberto baggio going over in PK's and losing. They do whine alot, but they are tough. the only goal scored on them was the own goal vs. the US.

If I went to Colombia I'd be kidnapped. Catching gringos makes good money over there.

Escobar. He was sitting in an outdoor cafe when "mafia" guys came up and started shooting him in broad daylight while yelling "goal" after each bullet was shot. Pretty nasty stuff.

It was no theory, it was an innocuous comment, but thanks for trying to give me any credit. Sometimes you get those in Public forums. Your continued generalizations about Nascar fans are quite amusing. It is only the fastest growing sport in the United States and is also one of the most expensive to attend. So I guess the fans have to eat pork rinds and drink lite beer because they cant afford anything else. I dont care much for it, but what the hell I will defend it since you are so determined to portray the average Nascar fan as some slovenly piece of white trash when in fact the average salary of Nascar Fans is Considered Upper Middle Class by most standards.
MLS failure is not due to the Potporri of choices offered, it is due to a piss poor marketing and merchandising campaign as well as trying to start in BIG stadiums with High overhead and little profit potential. After 10 years, the leagues attendance has remained flat and it has conrtracted by 2 teams. The good side is that they have remained afloat for 10 years but I doubt they can continue with salary issues begining to arise similiar to other sports leagues. The league has done nothing to promote itself of substance because it is continuously short of funding. Without the funding they could not ride the wave that was the US hosting the World Cup, but maybe next time. Now they are planning to expand into Toronto which makes little sense. Toronto cant even support their Hockey team anymore but that is another story. MLS could learn alot from Nascar on how to Launch and manage a Sports League. I dont have a clue about cricket but it looks awefully similiar to corkball or two man and every time they show it on TV the guys are wearing knickers and sweaters, seems awefully uncomfortable. Now, as far as the rules and strategies of Soccer I am fairly current, but I still cant get over the fact that they wont stop the friggin clock for injuries and games last after the clocks expire. Times up, game over, oh wait they are still going and relying on a ref to remain unbiased. Some like the suspense of it ending at any second, but I find it a bit shady. As far as contributing my Post in this forum, I do have that right. I have plenty of nice things to say and I really did not think the comment would stir such ire within you.
