Jim you should join us on the COD2 servers sometime. We are generally on there in the evenings. 8.9.4.81 is mix maps 8.9.4.82 are aim maps (where you will often find me) and 8.9.4.75 is TDM server. All of these are lots of fun. Feel free to add me on xfire as well.

Junkie A few years back when COD first came out, I started playing the MP side and liked it but only when there was an object or goal to accomplish. The run&gun players who were only interested in high scores were a constant irritation to the way I wanted to play the game. So, I went looking for a clan to play with. About 2-3 months later, I found the 949th SWORD clan and joined them. They played COD using ventrilo and in a very realistic way. We used communication and REAL WW2 tactics to achieve goals. I liked that way of playing. It seems that COD2 has taken up that same run&gun style that I disliked in the first place. I will NOT play any DM or TDM type battles. No ryhme or reason to them except to gain score. I wish IW had never put a scoring system into the COD series. Back in the 949 days, we played S&D in our ladders. If you died, you were out for that round. The kids didn't like that so they didn't play S&D much. I LOVE REALISM !! Thats why I never play games with magic or monsters..... There were some servers out there that had a lot of realism factors modded in for CODUO. Have you tried them? I did but I did not have vent then. I'd like to give it a try again with vent.

Yes, have tried many modded servers along with software
mods like "Heat of Battle" etc. Now if we could mod out the run&gun children who disrupt the game for everyone else, I would be truly happy..... JIM -------------------- |

DM+TDM prepare you for S&D. If you're good at S&D then you're good at DM/TDM.

DM+TDM prepare you for S&D. If you're good at S&D then you're good at DM/TDM. I beg to differ, DM/TDM will teach the basics of the game like running, crouching and prone handling different weapons, aiming and shooting them but so does basic training in real life. The finer points in military tactics are learned from communication and goals thru actual experience. So if you are training in a passworded private server with others like you all bent on the same goal, TDM would be fine but on a public server with many unknowns doing god knows what, it's just not how I like to play this game..... How do you like Silent Hunter 3? Thought about buying that once........ If you like stealthy approaches and intense attacks, it's good. But with the mods over at Subsim.com that make the realism much greater, it's utterly fantastic !! (and DEADLY too) JIM (Stryker9) [formerly Sgt. Kreuger] Thanks! |
