I have to say that my job is a wonderuful Job. I have the pleasure of being able to be a stay at homewife to Pain. And I get the pleasure of takeing care of my grandson Muncus. And will soon be taking care of our very first Grandaughter. We just found out this week that muncus is going to have a baby sister. So that is a job in its self. I did run a day care out of our home for over 20 years, then when i retired from that I worked at a dept store for almost 4 years. then there were lots of problems starting up there that pain told me I could quite. I was a very happy about that. I really enjoy staying home and taking care of my family. Thats the most rewarding job I think there is.

I'm a senior scientist at a large agricultural products processing and food ingredient company. Mostly I work as an analytical chemist in a corporate research group heading up the flavor analysis area. We do a lot of problem solving for plants, like if a railcar of starch is rejected by a customer who makes marshmellows because the starch smells like dirty socks. I try to find out what is causing the smell where it came from and what we will do with the tainted product. Or if we're trying to make a new chocolate flavor I work with sensory scientists to determine the characteristic chemicals in chocolate that give the flavor profile we're trying to highlight. For the most part I really enjoy the work I do, it's challenging, fun, and interesting. I don't like the politics that are involved in huge companies and this can be the omst frustrating part of my job. Especially dealing with middle managers who can't even do the own job but try to tell you how to do yours. But I suppose you get that it most large companies. |

I work as a stock broker with equity sales. We call clients - tell them what shares to buy or sell. Mostly nordic stocks. Manging their portfolios, IPO's/corporate stuff etc. Most stock brokers are bullish. I am not. I'm actually afraid of what's coming (in economic terms). I like my work, but the organization sucks (surprise

I'm still avoiding a "real" job by going to graduate school. Of course, I spend so much time studying, it's almost silly that I'm the one shelling out the cash! I'm working toward two masters degrees (MA and Th.M) in New Testament studies and Theology. After that I'm on to Ph.D. work that will probably also be in NT studies. Maybe one day I'll have a real job teaching on the university level. As for now, I work at the university's writing center, helping Korean grad students write in English.

I am a veterinarian, and if my name didn't clue you in, I work primarily on dairy cows. I also work on pets and horses at night when they have emergencies. I love my job. I am a partner in a ten vet practice. I get a good work out every day at work but I also get to use my brain. I am respected in the community and my advice is sought after by our clients. I have been getting involved in the management of some of our bigger farms, 600-1800 cows. I am making up vaccination protocols, in charge of their reproductive programs, advise on their milk quality procedures, and recently I have been involved in new facility design for farms that are expanding. I get to ride in my truck every day from farm to farm through beautiful country and talk with some of the most down to earth, honest people you will ever meet. Did I say I love my job? The only down side is being on call and spending hte majority of my time with my left arm in a cows rectum. The on call isn't so bad with as many vets as we have and the rectum you get used to. Don't tell anyone but I actually like the smell of cow shit. Reminds me of spring when the air gets that musty smell when everything starts to grow again.
Good luck with your new career, whatever that may be. Just remember, set a goal, go for it with everything you have got, and don't let anyone get in your way. Cowdoc |

I'm an IT Project Manager managing projects for a non-profit and funded by the Dept of Justice. Prior to that I worked for 3 different public safety software companies and prior to that was in law enforcement. I love my job and am in Northern VA - living about 3 miles from where pezking works! I do plan to move to Phoeniz in a few months working remotely for the same company.

Well, I've still got my summer job from '95... bartending... at the same place. But, I've started at a new place as well. Not corporate, so I can tell people to go fuck themselves when needed. Nice change of pace. Plus, at my corporate bar, my regulars are generally alcoholics in their 20's and early 30's. Very depressing. At the new place the regulars are well established rich alcoholics in their late 40's and 50's. Much less depressing. Plus, the new bartending gig is stupid easy. No frozen drinks. The senior bartender yelled at me last night for shaking a drink to mix it. She told me it made her look bad (nobody else actually mixes the drinks. I'm gonna rule this place soon).
Of course, I'd rather not "work". I'd rather be spending all my time writing and taking care of the kids. Yeah, full time house husband. That would be nice. -------------------- |
