Sad story of another fallen star
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Benoit#Death The tribute on TV last night was creepy. He and Eddie Guerrero (also deceased) were embracing at the end. Touching, but really really sad. |

WTF is wrong w/people? There's a thing called divorce... or just up and leaving. I don't understand why nut jobs are killing their families when they're tired of living? Didn't know the guy, don't follow wrestling. Sucks that he and his family are dead.

I would not doubt that drugs had some sort of part of this. Some people are just not happy with their lives and look into drugs for answers. This is a sad story. There are many out there like this.

Suspected roid rage+depression. I've had to be on high levels of steriods for long periods of time before. As horrible as I this is, I can totally believe it. I just can't even think about his poor son. It's just too horrible.

Its sad to see something like this happen.
I think its time for awake up call for the WWE to start looking into drug users. I read the paper today and almost every WWF/WWE star died at a very young age, aveage age was 35 and 40. I think every sport company should look into what has happen here and try to stop it from ever happening again. -------------------- ![]() Everything is funny as long as it is happening to somebody else. |

Are you serious? Almost every WWF/WWE star died at a very young age? I don't hear about wrestlers keeling over and dieing that often, or killing their families and themselves. In fact, I would think if "almost every" pro wrestler had died by age 35 to 40 (and I'm assuming here that you meant to write the average was 35 to 40, and not 35 AND 40), then there would not be so many who have been around for years. After a little searching, I only found around 15 "big name" stars that have died at an early age. There could be more, and by all means please show me, but the number would have to be well over 100 (that is a very conservative estimate, think about how many pro wrestlers there have been) for you to say that "almost every" star died young.

I found out now that his son had Fragile X syndrome. It is a rare genetic condition that can cause severe cognitive delay and physical complications. So sad.
I heard after the Owen Hart death, that the amount of deaths per "athlete" was highest in the pro wresting world, as it pertained to drug abuse, particularly steroids. As it was explained, if you look at the number of deaths of the stars, and at the age they died at, the percentage of deaths linked to steroid use was the highest of any other professional athletic field. Not alarming, but after the whole steroid debocle from a dozen years ago, you would think they would be under a much larger microscope. I was a huge fan of pro wrasslin since I was a wee lad. The only death I can remember is Andre the Giant, they showed his huge coffin on TV. Regardless of why this happened, it is really a horrible story and so tragic. |

Yes I mean 35 to 40 not 35 and 40.
And i didnt mean that all wwf/wwe died at a young age. I guess I should re-check my post from now on. @Flat btw isnt that Ewa Sonnet??? This post has been edited by Barkmann: 06/27/07 9:21pm -------------------- ![]() Everything is funny as long as it is happening to somebody else. |

I think its sad that wrestling has big steriod problem. It does affect how old these guys will be when their body finally fails on them. If anyone thinks otherwise, then they need to wake up.
Another thing that is really sad is that this ass had his 7 year old son on HGH injections. -------------------- ![]() |

I've dealt with guys with roid rage and it's ugly. The power they have is unbelievable, it's like there is no way to calm them down... they just lose it until they finally fall (which at times can seem like forever). I've also had female friends who were body builders who use roids, that's pretty gross, I have yet to see a female with roid rage; but I sure there are cases.
The part that is so FUBAR is why would someone father a child and continue using steroids when they know there is a potential for this. Apparetnly his wife had filed for divorce in 2002 (I believe) and reported that she was scared for her and her son's safety and he was accused of domestic violence. As far as I am concerned the mother was just as much at fault for bringing the child back into an unhealthy environment. That poor child will never will know life because of two selfish people... now that is FUBAR!!!! -------------------- ![]() Signature designed by Old Man Mike Never take life seriously. so what im hearing tonight on the news is on the wwe web site , it was posted that he was replaced by another wrestler due to the death of his wife ,14 hours before police found him ....it was posted from a computer (from wwe headquaters) ,very very weird . Extremely weird. One could imagine Benoit perhaps telling a friend what happened on the phone, and the friend trying to talk him out of more extreme behavior or something and thus not reporting it to police. That seems possible. But I can't imagine that same person would then go to wikipedia and update the info on it! It just seems totally biarre that someone out there could have known and not told autorities but was willing to update a wikipedia page. Unless Benoit ASKED him to do that....? Hmm.... Anyone, my personal theory on the whole thing is that Benoit's original intention was not to kill his whole family then himself. He killed his wife by "mistake" during a violent act or while in a rage. Then for a while he started trying to think of ways out of it. That's why he messages that his wife and son are sick, maybe food poisoned, trying to lay the groundwork for an excuse for their deaths. Then reality starts to hit that his plan to fake a food poisoning death can't possibly work, he realizes there's no way out, and he proceeds to kill his disabled son then finally himself. It still take him several hours then to find the "courage" (I use the term loosely) to kill himself after he kills his son. Anyway, that's my explanation for taking so long to commit the acts. Murder-suicide types don't normally do it this way. They themselves WANT to die, and feel they are doing the right thing by taking their family with them (f--ked up, I know). In this case I get the impression Benoit only ended up killing himself and his son after he realized the consequences that would come from killing his wife. A sad, horrible end. When I watched wrestling, Benoit was perhas my favorite. It is so depressing to see someone you respected ruin himself and his legacy by doing something so dispicible and wrong. -------------------- ![]() |
