They're already saying he's going to the HOF, automatically. I agree, they should let Rose in. His betting happened after his superb preformance as a player.

betting in major league baseball is a big nono since the black sox . i actually like the fact they are so strict with it because baseball is one of the games YOU DONT see that is fixed, almost impossible. pete rose just cant stfu ,everytime he seems to be making progress he puts his foot in his mouth.he seems to believe that he BELONGS in the hall or that they owe him. all i have to say is one name pete, shoeless joe jackson.

I'm not saying that I agree with or condone betting on your team or other team in sports.... it's wrong. But if they're going to let players that are breaking other rules into the HoF, then I'm all for Pete Rose going in. And like a few have stated, for his excellence as a player, not a betting coach. It's like saying OJ wasn't a good running back because he killed people years later.

were they illegal, and what was the punishment for use during the time he was using "steroid laden salves" on his body? They still do not warrant a full season suspension do they? What is the punishment now? What day is it? What is that smell? who is that?

Barry Bonds is BULL SHIT! His record is BULL SHIT! Hank Aaron deserves the record. I hope they discard Bond's record after they catch him with some roids.

your right shred, only hear say and rumors. no one likes barry including myself so hes getting heat.i can say that arod and pujols maybe cabrerra will beat his record ,so enjoy it now barry.
for the record, i have always felt that pete rose should be in the hall.if you rememeber he made the commisioner ,at the time of his ban,so mad at him he said something like "itll be a cold day in hell before pete rose gets in to the hof" he then recieved a liftime suspension and the comisioner died of a heart attack later that year. does anyone remember this-pete rose was so pissed about the hall he told mlb to go to hell and built his own hall of fame down the road from the real hof. i always got a kick out of that one. DOnt forget, there are other members of the beloved Hall of Fame that had some pretty dispicable backrounds as well... Cobb, Ruth, and even Mantle....Ethics are ethics, and this is an ethical issue.

BUT THE WRITERS PICK THE HALL OF FAME CANDIDATES , they wont get in ! bonds will because of his 14 steroid free years and achievments but mcquire and sosa will not get in,im pretty sure of that.

I think what Shred was getting at was that it was not against the rules in baseball to use Steroids. There was no policy until the Government stepped in I believe. Regardless, its still a shame that he stooped that low to use these drugs to get where he is.

He got greedy. Bottom line. He really could have been one of the greatest names in the sport, he is an asshole, but many superstars were and are. He got greedy and had to have it all. That is the curse that he will have to live with when he looks at himself in the mirror. Players like him, Griffy, A-rod, Jeter, and all of my beloved Cubs (um...) look to be built to play the game. They are naturals. He got greedy and went unnatural.
