CPR..., for barbarossa Options

Shred and I got Barb kicking a little last night, we had between 10 and 12 people on for about 2 hours.
Props to Shred for joining in.... (And to the rest of the crew who came over and helped!)

I think if we just can get 4 people on to start it up the rest will show up. If we can start making this happen on a regular basis the server will be back in no time.

We had a few people besides MOB and Regs show up in no time at all. It just takes the effort of a few to get this to happen!

P.S. We also got the COD2 TDM server juming a little earlier, just about 10 or 12 people but nice to see as well. Thanks to Peppar,Shred and Slayer for getting this going!

Someone mentioned in another post sharing Xfire accounts for those who'd like to play Old Barb so we can try and contact each other if we want to fire it up. I thought that was a good idea? Anyone else interested? we could start a thread on it.

BTW, for those that don't know, Xfire is a FREE program that is basically like an Instant Messanger program, excpet specifically for gamers. It shows if your friends are online, and what game, if any, they are currently playing.

Yeah, I do, but I'm not at my regular computer this week. I'll post my details Saturday or Sunday.

I'm fairly new to it. It'd be good to get more people using it to try and help kickstart our slower servers.

Steel has removed the Forest from the Barb map (Many thanks to Steel) so hopefully this will help get people looking for it with only 2 or 3 people on.

I think there were 23 or 24 people on for a while and some nice 10 v 10 matches!

I noticed a few names I had not seen in a while, and heard some nice comments from the players that were there.

Yep. Good battles. I was bummed I had to bail after two rounds but still had fun.

That's why Xfire is a good idea. It's great when a server gets rocking, then people come in, but getting it kickstarted is the hard part, and where Xfire would help. After all, I bet for every time Barb has been rocking in the last 3 months, there has been 50 times 1-2 people tried to get it going, and failed.

Really people, download Xfire and post your ID. It's free. Keep it running only when you're in the mood to play Barb. It *could* work.

Sounds like a plug-in available that'd let you have it running for setting up a game. We'd only need it to work as a paging system anyway.

This may also help,

I logged onto vent and hung out in the lobby and added (in classic Barb) in the comments section of my name.
That way as people came in they asked "are you in old barb" to which I would say hell yes we have 7 people and need some more!

I also asked people to jump on as they entered vent.

The only issue is that I probably clogged the Lobby. (If anyone in MOB has any objections let me know and I'll move to the Barb channel.)
I also had a hit or 2 on X-fire.

Wish you could have made it Blinky, I think we were only 2 or 3 people away from full. (or at least needing a password)

After you ran me down in the stolen German troop transport, I started chasing you around with a zook. Heard you beeping your horn to pick up people (opponents) to which they stopped to climb aboard.
I then watched as you ran them down!!!
I laughed so hard I forgot to shot at you.
That made my night, very funny stuff!

That's one of my favorite things to do. IPFreely and I have a competition to see how many people we can beep at then run over in a round...I'm winning

PS. I got that XBlaze extension to work with Adium. If any Mac-heads need the file let me know. It was tough to track down, but I found it. I'll be happy to send it along.

yay Barb! i dont mind hitting up the server empty. have done it a few times in tuchola and wound up with a few decent matches.

usually a good idea to bump up a "join barb!!11!1!" post on the forums just before heading in. it does help.
