Here is some rumors I found on kotaku.com regarding COD 5. I see not many are thrilled that Treyarch is making it. I am thrilled that it will be based on WWII and dont care who makes it. I only hope its not horribly done. Here is what they said:
Someone who is more than close enough to know such things has tipped us off over the weekend that, yes, Treyarch are indeed hard at work on Call of Duty 5. And that, yes, the series is heading back to World War II. That's the stuff we'd heard already. What we didn't know is that, according to this tipster, the game's set in the under-utilized Pacific theater, something only one major WWII shooter - the awful Medal of Honour: Pacific Assault - has tried before. While (if true) the move back to well-worn WWII is mostly disappointing, if this game can branch out and explore some of the less "popular" aspects of the conflict (China, Burma, New Guinea), it might not be so bad. The link to the site is HERE I love the graphics of COD4, I have played it a few times and think its great as far as the graphics go. What I hate is that there is no tanks. I have already made the mistake of buying COD2 with high hopes, therefore I waited with the purchase of COD4 and have decided not to waste my money. Now with the hopes of COD5 bringing back the WWII type game, I will probably buy it on its release date. I just have to have my tanks in these games. I dont enjoy just running around shooting people up. I love the tactics of knocking a base's cover off then planting the base. Or even defending your own base. That is where I get the most fun out of any of the games. -------------------- ![]() |

What made UO so successful for multiplayer was that teamwork and tactics were essential. |

I too thought the same as both of you, that I needed tanks and the tactics of BAS. COD4 is a great game however, I am completely hooked. I hope that there will be an expansion pack that adds that functionality to the COD4 game but frankly with HQ, DOM and S&D tactics do have a role in COD4.
I would like to see the pacific theatre as well but a lot of the pacific theatre was air/sea/infantry based and while tanks were certainly used, they weren't as prominent of a feature in the pacific as they were from Stalingrad to Paris. -------------------- ![]() Gentlemen, you can't fight in here! HQ, DOM and S&D are fun every once in a while, but to me Base Assault is a completely different animal altogether. Just feels different when you play with the people we had playing together. I miss those good times we all had on barb for so long. Cant wait for the newer games to bring that back for us.

UO was fantastic. However, it was clearly lacking in many area's. Primarily in a realistic environment. How come tanks could not drive over a little tiny bush?!?! Much less a broken wooden fence?!?
Another is a fully destructive environment. Plus the grphiocs enhancers. I sure hope they loose the Mad Scientist uniforms for the Germans from COD2. LoL -------------------- |

Yeah, but that a product of being from a few years ago. A soldier couldn't jump over that fence either! Heck, if the German had just put 4 foot high wooden fences everywhere, apparently the Allies would never have turned the tide! But yes, tanks, Base Assult, and a destructible environment...that's my dream. My question: who made COD:UO? -------------------- ![]() |

HQ, DOM and S&D are fun every once in a while, but to me Base Assault is a completely different animal altogether. Just feels different when you play with the people we had playing together. I miss those good times we all had on barb for so long. Cant wait for the newer games to bring that back for us. The only thing missing is you. Many of us play everynight in COD4 and have a great time. So what if there's not a tank? You still have tactics to plant in S&D, or capture a HQ and hold it, or to Dominate all 3 positions in DOM. If you "run and gun" in COD4 you will get slaughtered. Especially in Hardcore mode. It is not a run wild and do amazing type of game. Nor can you sit in one spot and camp your way to victory. It seems like some of you play the game for 5 mins and decide that because you don't have a tank and can't instantly dominate that it doesn't have any tactics and that it's all willy nilly nonsense. You should get the game and give it a legitimate shot. Play DOM in hardcore mode with everyone and THEN tell me it doesn't take good communication, team work, and a strategy of how to obtain and defend each point. To me the games are not all about the game play anyway. It's the people we play with that really keep it interesting. So what if this game lacks a couple of things you would like to see? I'm sure you'll find many things you enjoy that UO doesn't have. There may never be another UO so why not enjoy what we have with the friends we have here instead of dwelling on that it doesn't have tanks or it's not WWII or whatever... I miss my bolt rifles from COD2 but I'm not going to let that stop me from enjoying a game with all the guys I've made friends with from COD2 and some new friends from the UO gang. I bet if you gave it a shot and played it regularly with the gang you'd be hooked in 2 weeks. Oh... I hate to burst your bubble but COD5 most likely won't be released on PC. If I'm not mistaken IW will be launching the games that will be on PC. So I doubt you'll see it unless you buy it for xbox etc. -------------------- ![]() Give a man a match and he's warm for a min. Hey Geno,
Gameplay is everything to me. UO has all the gametypes you mentioned and I didnt like them in UO, why would I like them in COD4? And most that know how I play, know that I use all aspects of the game. I dont just sit in a tank, or camp a spot, defend bases, plant bases or run-n-gun. I do it all. When I have the free time to play, which lately has not been too often, I want to enjoy myself. I play the game that I like the most. I have COD2 sitting on the shelf collecting dust. Why do that again with COD4? I have tried it. And dont get me wrong, its a good game, but just not my cup of tea. The Graphics are great, but still not enough for me to stop playing UO. Even if COD5 is not out for PC, im sure COD6 or 7 or 8, lol, will put it all together for me. Until that time, I will stick to what I like better. -------------------- ![]() |

Gameplay is everything, if you dont like the game i dont think anyone is going to buy it and play even if ur friends play it, im sure there is ppl out there that would look pass the gameplay just to play with there friends. I hate to say this but i agree with Nothing about cod2 and cod4. And i read that cod5 would most likey be for pc who knows still too early to tell.

If Frontlines Fuel of war, plays as good as it looks it could be the next UO. I hope it wont wind up being another waste like MOH Airborne, Pacific assault, etc, etc. -------------------- ![]() ![]() |
