At $4.00/gal. it will cost me $190/month just to go to work and back.
Bad thing is I don't even live that far away, I work with several people who commute 1 hour each way.

http://english.people.com.cn/90001/90776/90884/6426270.html

The United States was built on large quantity of cheap affordable energy.

There are now countries like china going thru the same growth spurt and they are consuming a lot of oil and other energy.

Our entire country / economy runs on the need for good energy policy.

Screaming lets go Green without a comprehensive plan is just stupidity!

We should have been drilling for 20 years, and also working on ways to create new cleaner forms of energy. It can be done, bu we as a country are screaming into the wind.... Damn theses gas prices but please don't do anything about it like get more oil, or build more refinerys.

ANWAR was established and a portion was set aside specifically to drill for oil... yet we are not allowed.

China is drilling off our coast, but we will not? Do we not trust ourselves more than China when it comes to safety?

We are reaping what we sowed... when Bill Clinton passed on signing the bill to drill in Anwar he said it was 10 years away and we should be working on Green technologies.... Well we would have the oil now. One thing thats for sure I DONT have a car running on water yet.....

SIGH..........

Pretty soon the price of gas will be higher than the cost of Mad Dog 20/20.

Then all will be well. biggrin.gif

TBN,

Has the price doubled in a year, or better yet tripled in two years?

I know in the US we pay less than most other countries. A lot of that has to do with the value of your countries currency, the size of their market. and other issues.

The reason I ask is the US dollar is down and I wonder how much of our increase is worldwide supply and demand issues and how much is the currency issue. If your dollar has remained stable I would assume that your % increase would not be as drastic as it is in the US.

One of the many reasons I hate Maxine Waters.
They drag some Oil Exec's up before congress to bitch at them an get their soundbyte.
The Oil Exec throws Maxine's question back in her face, she then freaks out about how the government will take over.
Please notice how both of the other democrats in the picture laugh at her.

funny thing is that even if they drill today, according to the news (cnn/fox) it would have no effect for about 10 years. I dont believe that at all. maybe 3.

we have 2 choices.

well 3 i guess.

1) we sell our souls for oil.
2) we develop 100+ mpg cars.
3) we bike to work.
