According to Mechanic he privately posted about this over in TheOtherMob forums.
I must say I'm a little surprised and disappointed it didn't get a bigger response. Of active MOB members, only 2 people offered condolences or donated money, Bar and Mechanic. People are quick to talk about how they are proud to be part of this online gaming community. I guess the limited response shows their real feelings regarding the importance they place on the virtual community or more accurately, the lack of importance they place on it. Is this really that much different than someone passing the hat around for donations at work because someone had a family member die? I guess it's easier to skip the condolences and or donations when you don't have to look the person in the eye. I didn't know Steve aka Skins but I'm keenly aware I could just as easily be the one in his place. How many of you are in the prime of your life, a family with young children? How quickly could that change due to accident or illness? Gives a whole new perspective of There, but for the Grace of God, go I. It's something you should keep in mind when or if you pass the hat around next time. Undoubtedly some people will find a way to somehow turn even this into another "See druid really is an ass, Look what a preachy SOB he is" So be it... Let's be honest though, if you feel that way, you probably already did and this didn't change anything. Not that I cared what your opinion was to start with. I'm content knowing I did the right thing here. |

Hey Undead 1 DONT GIVE UP MAN. If you wish for me to contact the addmins to resolve your problem of logging on consider it done. PM me and let me know what your problem is and I WILL get your foot in the door ASAP. I dont even know Mr. Steven Kelly and i have been consumed for the last 5 or 6 days with finding ways to help the BOS clan in any way to help generate money's for his two youg sons. I dont give a damn about loyalties to clan or click in this matter its about helping some one in dire need of help.Steven Sons are the ones that keep me motivated. I have been in constant contact with BOS Major Vein on this venture and for me it has been my way of lets say salvation for myself.I can not and will not let this die until we reach that golden # $10.000 dollars for this fund. I have come up with some brilliant ideas in fullfilling those hopes and Vein has been a pleasure to be working with..He's an excellent person whom Really cares for his fellow gamers and clan mates. Druid and HammaTime I would like to personaly thank you for stepping up.You folks are solid honerable folks its just a damn shame its not received over there in the same light. I am very disapointed 52 hits and 2 responces...sorry but thats unexceptable bull shit.It bothers me to no end.I was hoping it would be received with vigor and lets do what we can to help this family..But no.. TXM is involved,Darkside is involved,AWI is involved ,why the hell not Us I ask to myslf..but no..beating a dead horse really sucks. Here is the Idea i came up with copied from a pm i sent Major Vein: Rich, I have been thinking long and hard about your hopes to collect as much money's as posable for Stevens sons. $10,000 grand is a nice round number and a goal that we should do are best in acheiving. Here's my Idea..This can work and probly generate more money than expected. Compose a letter that says My good friend Steven kelly has Passed away suddenly.Give all the info of the kelly families situation about ther sons etc..etc..etc.. And drive home the fact that this person is know by me personally,Russ Beardsly for "example" or whom ever may be forwarding this letter. That way it is Very personal.Your friends will respond im sure.I Russ Beardsley am pleading to all My close friends for your help in helping the kelly family raise as much money as posable to be given in his name for the Educational Fund of Stevens Sons.Give the information where moneys can be sent "Steven kellys Educational Fund". The most important thing is it CANT be looked or thought of as just another CHAIN letter. This letter must be received as Steven Kelly was My VERY best friend. This is the kicker! I send this letter TO ALL of my Personal Contacts in my E-Mail list. For example I have 25 people on my list I know very well and even if 50% of them respond that can generate some seriuos bucks. What do you think about this idea Rich? I'm telling you this can work if its done correctly. Honestly I know many of my friends on my contact list Would Respone becase its a personal request by me.. Russ This letter has been refined and is in use today by i think all the BOS clan members asking there personal contacts through their e-mail recipiants for helping this family. And it is WORKING Flawlessly. I can get you the refined letter if you wish. "T.M."....Russ -------------------- ![]() |

Russ,
Thank you, buddy for the direct email contact on this issue. I had read Silver's post and read the stuff on BOS's site, but my PayPal was all screwed up. Your email helped me reconfigure PayPal and I was able to make a donation directly to Geraldine. Also, big thanks to Silver, for alerting us to this in the first place. I can understand how many would choose to overlook a direct donation. Easy to turn away, but it is even easier to contribute, even if it is just a few bucks. We all talk about the enjoyment we get from our online community, well, this is one of those times when it is important to give back! Just point your PayPal account to: dmh17@mindspring.com - David |

Yes that would be the correct address.
Copied form BoS's site "The family asks that any money we would have spent on flowers be sent to the family to develop an education fund for Steve's surviving children. If you would like to contribute to the Kelly Children's Education Fund, please PayPal your contribution to dmh17@mindspring.com by Sunday, August 10th. Please mark "services other" and in the subject line please indicate that the money is in memory of Steve Kelly or =BoS= Skins AND identify your player name (so that you can be recognized for your contribution). I will be consolidating the funds and mailing a check to Gerri (Steve's wife) on Monday, August 11th as our contribution to the Kelly Children's Education Fund." |

I honestly thought MOB would step up to the occasion at the last minute.
If the fact it was for a good cause wasn't enough, then it should have helped that BOS has a long history going back to the early days of MOB. So much for MOB and it's place in the community. I'm really disappointed. It's a sad day for everyone when Empathy is replace by Apathy |

Just because you haven't seen it plastered on a billboard doesn't mean that MOB hasn't or isn't doing anything.

As I said, I thought/hoped MOB would but apparently haven't as CSA keeps the tally fairly updated.
Big difference between talking about doing it an actually getting it done. Not to mention the original planned cutoff to do something was a week ago. Or here is another way to look at it. I've already made a 2nd donation since they were so close to breaking the next $1000 mark. Doesn't it seem strange to anyone that 20% of the donations representing MOB are not even from MOB members? In the words of Larry the Cable guy "Git-R-Done!" |
