did you install the drivers that came with the modem for the usb plug. but your best bet is to spend the 15 dollars and pick up an e-net card

You probably should go in to device manager and see if it is working from there. Won't be able to help any further as I'm about to stab the cat. Someone will help.

Yea, stab the cat. If you don't get by morning I'll explain it to ya.

Your broadband modem doesn't work either. I know with cable I had to call in the mac address (located on the modem) to your isp. Dsl may be differant.

You can try to manually update the drivers.
Put in the cd
On the desktop, Right-click my computer and choose properties
Click on the hardware tab
Click on Device Manager
Find the modem in the list, it may be under Network or other devices
Once you find it, double click on it
Click on the drivers tab, then update driver
On the new window, put a check by "Install from specific location"
Click next
On the 1st try leave it as default "Search removable media"
If it still can't find them
Put a check mark by " Include this location in the search"
Then click on the browse button.
Browse to the cd the drivers are on.
Click down through the directories until you find one called drivers ( I'm guessing at the name but it will be something like that, you'll know when it's the right directory because the "Okay" button will be grayed out if there are no drives in the selected directory.
When you find the correct directory hit okay, then next on the prior screen.

I realize these are kind of idiot instructions, but I've no clue how well you can find your way around on a PC

i thought with dsl you dont need a 56k modem to work. i thought the phone line plugs into the dsl modem on desk and then to usb or nic card in pc.

Plug in the AC

You will plug the telephone line into the modem (little box in the package)

Then plug the ethernet cable in the other side of the modem then to your ethernet (network interface card).

Run the disc that came with the packaging.

Make sure to use all of your phone filters.

Good luck.
