i dont agree with this "TRAPZONE" rule(see pick below), its shit for the goalies that like to play out wit the puck. I llike the rule when players dive they get warned then proceed with fines if they keep on doin it, which in result there will be less pussy's. and as for the instigater rule i think its shit b/c its not pee-wee hockey its the NHL, lmao and the coach gets fined $10,000 if one of the players does this.

in all i dont think changes like this should be made to such a great game, it ruins it. but i guess will have to wait n see if the sport is worth watchin.

The changes are being made to ensure more scoring and a more exciting game. For example if the goalie can't handle the puck as much there will be more offense generated instead of the puck simply being cleared out. In my opinion these changes are good for the future of the game.

This is the best change by far, about time!

"SHOOTOUT

Following a scoreless five-minute overtime, three players from each team participate in the order the coach selects.

Each team takes three shots. The team with the most goals after those six shots is the winner.

If the score remains tied, the shootout will proceed to a "sudden death" format.

Regardless the number of goals scored during the shootout portion of overtime, the final score recorded for the game will give the winning team one more goal than the score at the end of regulation time"

Can you explain how some minor rule changes will cause the game to no longer be hockey?

Goaltenders who play the puck behind the goal line but outside the designated puck handling area will be penalized for delay of game.

Now that is total bullshit...since the goalie is obviously a " D " player, why should there be any kind of restriction on where they can ? cannot play the puck.....screw that..(happy as hell to be watching "the wings" again

I didnt read the new rules. But if the goalie is playing the puck how can he be delaying the game? That one doesnt make much sence to me. unsure.gif

I think the goalie should be allowed to play the puck but he is open game.

You leave your crease and you are opening yourself up for a check, make the game interesting.

You have goalies that go behind the net fumble the puck with a player bearing down on him and the player can't touch him.

This way unless the goalie is sure he has enough time to get to the puck and clear it before he gets knocked on his ass.

Just a thought!!!!

Hell yeah!! I agree. They used to do that, I remember seeing Probert take runs at goalies when they were outside the goalie crease. They should be fair game at that point!
