Lead, if you consider standing up and saying "this isn't right and isn't tolerated here" to be censur then you need to examine your beliefs. I'm not suggesting deleting posts or changing them, I am suggesting letting members know what is and isn't acceptable behavior. I don't care how annoying the members here found ML it doesn't excuse the comments and posts that were flung her direction.
It takes more courage to speak out as Ramos and Pistoffbad have than to go along with the "mob". Stand up and be counted, make the new MOB a better place to be.

QUOTE(Bargod @ 10/05/05 3:09pm) *

So, is the problem the guys that are on the forums now, or the person who the animosity is towards?

It needs to slow down, Bargod. I'm just reminding people there's a break pedal in the car. This animosity thing is wierd to me in a lot of ways I've already talked about.

I really don't know those other guys except Atima very well, so I find it hard to defend them, and they don't seem to need any help anyway, lol.

I quit this place because it collectively possesses a "character" I can't in good conciense (sp?) continue to align myself with, that's all. From reading these follow ups, it would appear I'm in the minority. Rocker has weighed in from SK. He sends a clear signal that he and his group want to see the hatefulness end. POB is so far the only one to step out from MOB -- and it was very much appreciated to hear that I wasn't the only one thinking this way. I think Ice Cold and Redeemer are second guessing their comments. So what's it gonna take to put an end to this?

I really didn't have an agenda with this post. However, if have planted a second thought in anyone's mind -- so that the next time they stop and question what they're really saying before they hit "Post Topic" or "Add Reply" to some hateful post -- then maybe all of this back and forth was worth it. I hope we can all get back to having some real gaming fun instead of this heavy discussion.

So, I've left and you can continue to all be what you will after this thread concludes without my interference. I not a troublemaker and won't be a troublemaker in the future. I will leave these forums forever when asked -- you won't have to ask me twice. I do wish you all good luck. I've made many good friends through this association -- so, it was well worth it -- and hope to see you all in another place, at another time.

I agree with some of what you have said Ramos and I wish you well. I have always tried (though not always successful) to operate on a few simple rules when using forum boards:
1) Ask myself "Would I actually say this if the person was in the same room with me?"
2) If something really pisses me off, wait an hour before replying because chances are, My post wont make sense.
3) Use previous track record of a person before responding, once a dildo, always a dildo and not worth the effort in responding.

I cant say I havent had my share of poor posting habits in the past, but I do try to follow these rules as much as possible. As far as the "poor" treatment some people receive from the community here, I am sure that 98% is well earned. While I am making up percentages, I would bet that less than 1% of the tens of thousands of posts that have been made on this forum have had nothing to do with attacking individuals. While I dont agree with the verbage that is used sometimes, I understand the sentiment, usually its very simple "Go away and stay away". It is funny to me that the people that incite and create the "drama" here bring it on themselves through an initial inflammatory post and then cry foul when they are attacked.

Deisel, El P, and ML all instigated stuff that pissed other people off. They knew the reactions they were gonna get, and were suprised when they got them? Well lets just go grab that power line thats knocked down and make sure that we're firmly grounded then be suprised when we get fucking electricuted. *Spelling anyone?* Freedom of Speech has nothing here. This is the internet, who pays the bills makes the rules. As for the comments made, I'm not saying that everybody was right in saying them, but when you focus on every single aspect of someones grammar and correct them in such a rude fashion and insult them for not being able to put a sentence together correctly, and then be suprised that people get pissed off?

I respect your opinion and your right to have one, but I believe if you start something you don't get the right to be suprised or offended with someones reaction.

that probably made no sense, i dont proof read, i just go off hwat comes to my head...more rant

Don't get me wrong, generally he was fun. But, when he was a jerk he was king of the jerks. The name calling was almost always in fun, though, and everyone would crack up when he'd come up with a new one. I don't know exaclty what led to the big blowout, but I believe the BS pile got higher than the "ha ha Diesel is funny" pile.
And Rocker, what most of us do is ignore those threads. It's very easy. Nobody forces anyone else to read the forums. If you don't like whats in a thread, stop going to it. That's how I deal with a lot of threads. Sometimes I feel argumentative and I visit the Too Exclusive threads, and sometimes I can't be bothered with midless rantings. It's MY choice.

One thing I give Diesel and Elp credit for -- they've both stayed away after they were asked to and banned. Neither of them tried to come back under different names, (Ok, well ElP did once, but he never got the chance to post wink.gif )

PS - you all take this shit too seriously, IMHO.

Hating on a person isn't cool but neither is condescending. This is life. I'll gladly say that no one likes it when someone condescends to them. It is fucking annoying and incredibly gay. In life someone always gets picked on and pushed down into the sand. It sucks, yeah. But again that's life. Hateful remarks written or spoken in moments of anger or irritation... Well they happen. Everyone is guilty of it(Especially Andy(Vader)That kid has one foul mouth but he is fucking hilarious). I bet even the Jesus himself dropped F-bombs or the equivalent at the time. That's just the way it is. And I'm sure some asshole riding a donkey was going too slow on the road to Galilee, Jesus would have flipped that asshole the bird and said some unkind words because ultimately he was human. We all are. You can idolize virtuous behavior as much as you please but at the end of the day we're all guilty of sin. If you didn't say someting hateful it you definately thought it. It can't be helped. that's just the human brain. I guarantee if someone does their best to go against the grain and create the most friction(drama) that they can the people that aren't vibing with that person are gonna start hating. That is just human nature plain and simple. I'm not gonna say that Mona necessarily started this avalanche of hate but she was the little pebble that got caught up in it and started rolling downhill. Maybe it wasn't all her fault but she didn't help matters.

Ramos, what makes you think you can take your moral high ground with a large part of an online gaming community when you can't even keep ML/Shane from posting to PREVENT anything like this from ever happening?? I am not bagging on you(nor condoning the violent posts), but maybe you should try keeping your family member under control and avoid the entire situation.

I'm okay with the ground I'm standing on. I've got three kids to raise....I'm not about to try and control an adult sibling, too. We each make our own beds.

Rocker, you have "spin doctored" my response to your earlier statement about my even earlier statement regarding the ML/Shane debacle. The Forum is a way of people expressioning opinions; right or wrong, in good taste or straight from the septic tank vile, they are still covered under FREE SPEECH. ML seemed to have "rubbed" alot of people the wrong way, and then compounded the issue after the fact. "Beligerant" and "overly antagonistic" have been uttered by more than one person in conversations here and on vent.

I am standing up. I am with MOB. and i say, you have your right to say whatever you think about this topic. And so do I, and so does ever other person who contributes their "2cents" worth.
FREE SPEECH.
BILL OF RIGHTS.
CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
DEMOCRACY.

This is the best place to be.
